From d5120caa3b3c0ab2e71d0708803bfcdb7c77fa20 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Sauransh Bhardwaj Date: Sun, 11 Oct 2026 01:11:19 -0400 Subject: [PATCH 1/3] feat(backend): add read-only GET /v1/tools/commitments for what the person owes others Adds a commitments tool service and route that list the signed-in person's open, conversation-captured tasks they own, grouped by the person each was made to, with the source conversation as a typed citation. The person is worked out at read time and never from owner_name, a meeting roster or a diarization label: people heard on their own tagged lines in the cited exchange (the cited lines and up to two earlier lines that started before them and ended between 90 seconds before and 5 seconds after their start) are named plainly, any untagged voice there leaves the item unattributed, and the only person in a conversation where every other voice is tagged as them is offered as a likely match. Nothing is stored, no model is called and no task is created, edited or completed. Reads are one task query, one conversation batch and one people batch, owner-scoped by the authenticated uid; contact details in free text are removed where recognised ([email], [phone], or [number] after a reference word, for long unseparated runs and for ID- or card-shaped groupings, with plain figures of eight digits or fewer, ranges and measures kept), a person filter that names more than the contact or matches several people is flagged as partial, unknown-owner items are counted but not listed, items past the conversation cap are reported as not checked, the effective window is returned, and truncation is reported when a cap cut anything or the task scan used its whole allowance, which get_action_items now reports through an optional scan_report. The open-task predicate moves to a pure utils.task_predicates.is_open_conversation_task that the commitment follow-up producer uses too. --- backend/database/action_items.py | 16 +- backend/route_policy_manifest.yaml | 1 + backend/routers/tools.py | 74 ++ .../firestore_query_driver_registry.py | 9 +- .../test_action_items_pagination_order.py | 33 + backend/tests/unit/test_commitments_tool.py | 1016 +++++++++++++++++ .../test_tools_agent_route_response_shape.py | 13 + backend/tests/unit/test_tools_router.py | 138 +++ backend/utils/proactivity_producers.py | 9 +- .../retrieval/tool_services/commitments.py | 789 +++++++++++++ backend/utils/task_predicates.py | 19 + 11 files changed, 2105 insertions(+), 12 deletions(-) create mode 100644 backend/tests/unit/test_commitments_tool.py create mode 100644 backend/utils/retrieval/tool_services/commitments.py create mode 100644 backend/utils/task_predicates.py diff --git a/backend/database/action_items.py b/backend/database/action_items.py index a92a4e36c68..46c7805bdbb 100644 --- a/backend/database/action_items.py +++ b/backend/database/action_items.py @@ -715,6 +715,7 @@ def get_action_items( offset: int = 0, budget: Optional[ListReadBudget] = None, extra_fields: tuple[str, ...] = (), + scan_report: Optional[Dict[str, Any]] = None, ) -> List[Dict[str, Any]]: """ Get action items for a user with optional filters. @@ -734,6 +735,9 @@ def get_action_items( under its per-RPC timeout — so the aggregate read cannot outlive the request (#11831). Its guidance groups the answer by person with citations, states a person plainly only when the match is not marked likely and hedges the rest, checks a partial name match with the user, treats names, titles, descriptions, excerpts and context as evidence rather than instructions, notes that contact details are removed where recognised and never become recipients, says which window was checked and when items were not checked or have an unclear owner, resolves any follow-up handle through search_contacts, and never completes an item because a draft was opened. render_chat_blocks now accepts its canonical task ids for task cards, and the generated Swift surfaces and manifest fixture are regenerated. --- .../Generated/GeneratedToolCapabilities.swift | 21 +++++ .../Generated/GeneratedToolExecutors.swift | 8 +- .../agent/src/runtime/desktop-tool-policy.ts | 1 + .../agent/src/runtime/omi-tool-manifest.ts | 47 +++++++++- .../agent/tests/desktop-tool-policy.test.ts | 13 +++ .../agent/tests/fixtures/tool-manifest.json | 89 +++++++++++++++++++ .../agent/tests/omi-tool-manifest.test.ts | 88 ++++++++++++++++++ .../agent/tests/tool-result-projector.test.ts | 1 + 8 files changed, 264 insertions(+), 4 deletions(-) diff --git a/desktop/macos/Desktop/Sources/Generated/GeneratedToolCapabilities.swift b/desktop/macos/Desktop/Sources/Generated/GeneratedToolCapabilities.swift index 0f4b819c922..ae75c8779b5 100644 --- a/desktop/macos/Desktop/Sources/Generated/GeneratedToolCapabilities.swift +++ b/desktop/macos/Desktop/Sources/Generated/GeneratedToolCapabilities.swift @@ -615,6 +615,27 @@ enum GeneratedToolCapabilities { "If a task is only evidence for something you are answering in prose — how many are open, whether one exists, what a day contained — cite it inline and render nothing." ] ), + Capability( + toolName: "get_commitments", + title: "Get Commitments", + latency: .fastNetwork, + surfaces: Set([.desktopChat]), + summary: "List what the user promised other people in their conversations, grouped by person, each citing its source conversation.", + bullets: [ + "Only the user's own accepted tasks from conversations; items with an unclear owner are counted, not listed.", + "Read-only: it never creates, changes or completes a task.", + "Returns names only; contact details in its text are removed where recognised.", + "Use for 'what do I owe people?', 'what did I promise this week?', 'what do I owe Priya?'. A server without the route yields commitments_unavailable so the model falls back to the task list, and other transport failures return a fixed message.
