Add configurable scale ticks to axis of coordinate system

To quickly be able to read off the dimensions of objects I think it would be useful to have scale ticks on the X,Y,Z-axis. In the ideal case even configurable (but mm division would do and may be major ticks at cm divisions). What do you think?
