if logged in, copy URI link includes my namespace resulting in 404

If I'm using current interlex and want to share a term URI, I get the same link construction wherein NewInterlex automatically puts all terms in my namespace, even if I have made no changes.

This means that my copied links give a 404 to anyone that's not me, (including me if i'm not logged in).

Expected behavior -

1. If a term has not been edited, the IRI should be the standard IRI that is available to everyone.
2. if i haven't added a term to my ontology, the term is unedited, and therefore should be the base/default term IRI.
3. I must add the term to an ontology before i can make changes to it.

In sum, if a term is added to my ontology, but has no modifications, I believe it should resolve to the "published" term IRI, not locked within my namespace

This is not a bug on the frontend this is expected behavior at the moment because the frontend and backend are decoupled and running on different domains.

In principle we could change the urls so that they are uri.olympiangods.org and that would be more accurate, but we don't want those urls out there.

In short, while in development if you want a url to resolve you need to change it manually.

Even shorter: do not share urls from development interlex.

Let me see if I can rephrase the expected behavior into something that matches our current terminology.

1. If I have not made any changes to a term (i.e. I do not have my own variant of a term) the url displayed should point to the parent group that maintains the variant I'm actually looking at.
2. This behavior is orthogonal to adding terms to ontologies, there won't be any change in behavior regardless of whether it has been added to any ontology that you maintain. As such this point is essentially the same as point 1.
3. When a users edits a term they always edit their own variant of it (or their fork of some other variant). There is no need to force users to manually add a term to an ontology in order to edit it, the act of editing it is that action itself.

With regard to point 1. This directly contradicts the requirement not to teleport users to other groups.

I'm following the discussion from yesterday, and a lot of the discussion is directed to how merges are handled, and whether a new endpoint will be created to show versions.I'm asking about the UI and expected behavior of clicking this icon:

If i have made no edits to that term, it's base or curated (whichever you guys land on) what do I have to do to get a clean URI that I can pass to another person (or myself, if i'm not logged in?)

In general that is the uri you should pass. For the development endpoint specifically you would need to change it to http://uri.olympiangods.org/base/ilx_0103471 and I need to update the server to redirect to the dev frontend for that url.

@tgbugs just a note to remind us of where we ended on this conversation. If I haven't added it to an ontology file that I manage/contribute to, or edited the term, it doesn't belong to me. the link shouldn't be restricted to my namespace.
