Uno: Pin 10 for SPI unusable?

This is just asking for clarification. The table in the README states that pin 10 on the Arduino Uno is not available for PWM. Does this mean it is not available at all, in particular not for the SPI interface?

I've asked this question on arduino.stackexchange.com where it was pointed out:

The "Unusable PWM" pins can be used normally, with digitalRead() or digitalWrite(), but their PWM function controlled by analogWrite() will not work properly, because AltSoftSerial uses the timer which controls that pin's PWM feature.

This suggests to me that an SPI library probably would not be affected to use pin 10. If this is correct, I would suggest to explain this limitation in the README.
