Required Actions for TestPyPI Upload

Option 1: Tag-Based Upload (Recommended)

  1. Ensure TEST_PYPI_API_TOKEN secret is configured in repository
  2. Create and push tag v0.2.1:
    git checkout main
    git pull origin main
    git tag -a v0.2.1 -m "Release version 0.2.1 - Phase 7 complete"
    git push origin v0.2.1
  3. Monitor workflow at: GitHub Actions → Release workflow
  4. Verify upload at: https://test.pypi.org/project/syntechrev-polycodcal/

Option 2: Manual Workflow Trigger

  1. Go to: GitHub Actions → Release workflow
  2. Click "Run workflow"
  3. Select branch/tag: v0.2.1
  4. Click "Run workflow" button
  5. Note: Jobs still gated to tags, so this must be run on a tag

Option 3: Manual Upload (For Testing)

# Clean previous builds
rm -rf dist/ build/ *.egg-info

# Build package
python -m build --no-isolation

# Upload to TestPyPI
python -m twine upload \
  --repository-url https://test.pypi.org/legacy/ \
  --skip-existing \
  --verbose \
  dist/*

Post-Upload Verification

After successful upload to TestPyPI:

# Create test environment
python3.12 -m venv test-env
source test-env/bin/activate # Windows: test-env\Scripts\activate

# Install from TestPyPI
pip install --index-url https://test.pypi.org/simple/ \
    --extra-index-url https://pypi.org/simple/ \
    syntechrev-polycodcal==0.2.1

# Test console scripts
syntech-monitor --help
genesis-gateway --help
legal-generator --help

# Test package import
python -c "import syntechrev_polycodcal; print('Import successful')"

Git Status

Working Tree: Clean (no uncommitted changes)
Files to Commit: None
Untracked Files: None

Build Artifacts Status:

  • dist/ - Populated with v0.2.1 artifacts (gitignored ✅)
  • build/ - Exists from build process (gitignored ✅)
  • *.egg-info/ - Created during build (gitignored ✅)

Known Limitations & Workarounds

1. Windows Python 3.13 NumPy Issue

Issue: NumPy 2.3.3+ has DLL loading issues on Windows Python 3.13
Impact: Installation may fail on Windows with Python 3.13
Workaround: Use Python 3.12 on Windows
Status: Documented in CHANGELOG.md (line 13)
Note: This is a known upstream NumPy issue, not a package issue

2. TestPyPI Dependency Resolution

Issue: TestPyPI may not have all project dependencies
Impact: Installation from TestPyPI alone may fail
Workaround: Use --extra-index-url https://pypi.org/simple/
Status: Documented in completion guides

Correct Installation Command:

pip install --index-url https://test.pypi.org/simple/ \
    --extra-index-url https://pypi.org/simple/ \
    syntechrev-polycodcal

3. Documentation Link Warnings

Issue: MkDocs shows warnings for links to files outside docs/
Impact: Build warnings but deployment succeeds
Examples: Links to ../README.md, ../CONTRIBUTING.md, etc.
Status: Non-critical, can be fixed incrementally
Mitigation: Copy referenced files to docs/ or update links

Phase 8 Preparation Recommendations

Based on the ROADMAP.md, Phase 8 focuses on "Quality & Governance." Here are recommendations:

1. Security & Governance Documents

Priority: HIGH

Create the following files:

  • SECURITY.md - Security policy and vulnerability reporting
  • CODE_OF_CONDUCT.md - Community guidelines

Template Resources:

  • GitHub's recommended security policy template
  • Contributor Covenant for Code of Conduct

2. Issue & PR Templates

Priority: MEDIUM

Create .github/ISSUE_TEMPLATE/ directory with:

  • bug_report.md - Bug report template
  • feature_request.md - Feature request template
  • performance_issue.md - Performance issue template

Create .github/pull_request_template.md:

  • Checklist for PR requirements
  • Testing verification
  • Documentation updates

3. Dependabot Configuration

Priority: HIGH

Create .github/dependabot.yml:

  • Monitor Python dependencies
  • Weekly update schedule
  • Auto-label dependency PRs
  • Group minor/patch updates

Example:

version: 2
updates:
  - package-ecosystem: "pip"
    directory: "/"
    schedule:
      interval: "weekly"
    labels:
      - "dependencies"

4. CodeQL Security Scanning

Priority: HIGH

Create .github/workflows/codeql.yml:

  • Enable CodeQL analysis
  • Scan on push and PRs
  • Python language configuration
  • Schedule weekly scans

Benefits:

  • Automated security vulnerability detection
  • Dependency vulnerability alerts
  • Code quality insights

5. Pre-Phase 8 Checklist

Before starting Phase 8:
