Hi @Cory-5 In Tabular Editor 3.27.1 we have a few adjacent fixes for running one query of a multi-query document. When you select a later DEFINE ... EVALUATE query, or place the cursor in its EVALUATE, Tabular Editor now runs it with its own DEFINE block. Before, it used the first query's DEFINE block and returned the first query's results or an error. Running all queries in a document together, with result sets grouped by query, is not part of this release, so this discussion stays open as a feature request. |

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe
This is more of an inconvenience than a fundamental problem. With Fabric Apps enabling traditional applications to be built around semantic models, a common requirement may be to log and audit every DAX statement an app executes. When reviewing those logs, it is useful to paste multiple DAX queries into a query window and run them together. Tabular Editor 3 does not appear to support this. A single query containing multiple EVALUATE statements returns multiple result sets, but I cannot run multiple queries when each begins with DEFINE.
Describe the solution you'd like
I'd like to paste multiple queries from a log or Performance Analyzer into a single DAX Query Window and run them together. Because each query may return multiple result sets, the results pane could use a hierarchy showing the query number and its result set numbers.
For example, pasting the following queries into a DAX Query Window produces an error when the second DEFINE begins. Instead, I'd like to see all the result sets.
DEFINE
VAR __DS0FilterTable = TREATAS( { 2016 }, 'Date'[Year] )
VAR __DS0Core = SUMMARIZECOLUMNS( 'Date'[Date], __DS0FilterTable, "Revenue_YTD", [Revenue YTD] )
EVALUATE
__DS0Core
ORDER BY 'Date'[Date]
DEFINE
VAR __DS0FilterTable = TREATAS( { 2015 }, 'Date'[Year] )
VAR __DS0Core = SUMMARIZECOLUMNS( 'Date'[Year], __DS0FilterTable, "Revenue_PY", [Revenue PY] )
EVALUATE
__DS0Core
ORDER BY 'Date'[Year]
Goals
If result sets 1 and 2 correspond to Query 1, and result sets 3 and 4 correspond to Query 2, the UI could group and present them accordingly. This is primarily a UI enhancement suggestion.

Anther example of three queries might look like this:

Background
Copying each query into a separate window works, but it is inefficient. You have to create a window for each query, split the queries across those windows, run them individually, and switch between windows to review the different result sets. Displaying multiple result sets in a single window would make quick spot checks much faster and easier.
