Video decoder not found

I am trying to run the recv_cv.py example on Ubuntu 20.04 and I keep getting a frame which displays the error "Video decoder not found please visit ndi.tv/formats for help and information." Do you have an idea on how to solve this? Thank you.

A workaround for me was to use Docker

Could you tell us what device or software is sending the NDI stream? This will help us investigate the issue further.

I'm getting this output while running on a Nvidia Jetson Orin device. Running Jetpack 6.0 (Ubuntu 22.04)

Is the sending side using standard NDI or NDI|HX?
I will test it with Jetson.

It is using the NDI|HX camera, over ethernet. I'm able to see it as a NDI source but get this output. (edit, think its technically a NDI|HXv2)

I think I may have found the cause. NDI 6.3.2 appears to dynamically load FFmpeg 7.x libraries (libavcodec.so.61 and libavutil.so.59) for HX decoding.

I confirmed that installing ffmpeg 7.1 resolves this issue on Arch Linux.
However, that could be difficult on JetPack 6.0, since it is based on Ubuntu 22.04 and ships with an older FFmpeg version by default.

Just an update from me, wasn't able to get this working on my jetson. This could be for several reasons. I'm mainly suspecting the custom version of Jetpack that comes on the seeed-reComputer I have, its just been a pain in general.

However I did get it running on a Ubuntu 24.04 box after updating FFmpeg to 7.1, so I'm able to move forward with my use case at least.

@cpeter-8k I tried it on Jetson Orin Nano(JetPack 6.2.1).
I built my own FFmpeg 7.1.4 with the following configuration, and it worked well with NDI HX.
Please try the following commands:

git clone --branch n7.1.4 https://git.ffmpeg.org/ffmpeg.git
cd ffmpeg
./configure --prefix=/opt/ffmpeg-ndi --enable-shared --disable-static --disable-gpl --disable-nonfree --enable-v4l2-m2m
make -j$(nproc)
sudo make install

Then run:
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/ffmpeg-ndi/lib:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH python3 ./recv_cv.py
