Deleting user data does not work

This functionality used to work. With the current version of SteamOS 3.8 which uses flatpak 1.16.6 it was observed that if one decides to, e.g. trash the libreoffice user data folder, nothing happens, the folder is untouched.

If one uninstalls the app, the user can still delete the leftover data with flatpak uninstall --delete-datain the terminal.

That's not exactly true @VibeCoderGenZ, it appears that the owner is focusing on a typescript rewrite and realtively actively commiting to it... while kind of ignoring the current app as it is.

I'm having the same issue on a fedora silverblue variant
gio: file:///home/jorussell/.var/app/ch.openboard.OpenBoard: Trash portal failed on /home/jorussell/.var/app/ch.openboard.OpenBoard
I don't really know how gio works, but since the original poster had an issue with steamOS I was curious if this issue only happens on distros that mount home under /var
