Bug: It shows an error in the formula, but the formula works #73

Description

@Bobo8

External workbook reference is incorrectly flagged as invalid

When a formula contains the full path to an external workbook, Excel-Labs flags it as invalid.

Example formula

='R:\SpravaNemovitosti\Dům KPSs\[Výpisy a SIPO KPSs.xlsx]Výpis F2'!$A3:H30

Excel-Labs displays the following error:

Save failed: The argument is invalid or missing or has an incorrect format.

The formula works correctly when entered directly into Excel. However, when I select the cell containing the formula, Excel-Labs flags it as an error.

I have been using Excel-Labs for approximately four years, including with this external workbook reference. The problem started only a few months ago.

Environment

  • Microsoft Excel for Microsoft 365 MSO
    Version 2606, Build 16.0.20131.20112, 64-bit
  • Excel-Labs 1.4 (January 2024)

Formula debugger limitations

I would also greatly appreciate further development of the formula debugger. It currently fails with approximately 90% of the formulas I try to edit in Excel-Labs.

I have tested several other formula-debugging tools, but they are practically unusable (I won't even mention the joke that is Evaluate Formula). I would even be willing to pay for a reliable debugger.

The most common errors are:

  • Maximum number of cells in debugger exceeded.
  • The formula uses features which the debugger does not yet implement: ANCHORARRAY
