Version: N/A (workflow-only change)

What does this implement/fix?

Auto Assign now assigns new issues and PRs to the user in the AUTO_ASSIGNEE organization variable (currently WestwardWinds) instead of a name hard-coded in this repo.

Workflow-only change, no firmware change.

Types of changes

  • Bugfix (fixed change that fixes an issue)
  • New feature (thanks!)
  • Breaking change (repair/feature that breaks existing functionality)
  • Dependency Update - Does not publish
  • Other - Does not publish
  • Website of github readme file update - Does not publish
  • Github workflows - Does not publish

Checklist / Checklijst:

  • The code change has been tested and works locally
  • The code change has not yet been tested

If user-visible functionality or configuration variables are added/modified:

  • Added/updated documentation for the web page

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Chores
    • Updated the pull request assignment workflow configuration.

Drop the hard-coded assignee and call the shared Workflows autoassign
workflow, which now falls back to the AUTO_ASSIGNEE organization
variable. Run on pull_request_target so assignment also works on
fork-submitted PRs; the workflow never checks out PR code.

Walkthrough

The workflow comments now explain token differences, PR code execution, and the assignee variable. The reusable workflow reference now points to main, and the explicit assignee inputs were removed.

Comments distinguish the token used for fork pull requests, state that the workflow does not check out or execute PR code, and identify AUTO_ASSIGNEE as the organization variable for the assignee. The reusable workflow reference now uses main; the assignees and num-of-assignees inputs were removed.

Fork PR assignment now uses the upstream main workflow with issue and PR write permissions. Pin a reviewed revision containing the assignee fallback to prevent an upstream change from silently altering repository metadata behavior.

A rabbit checks the workflow line,
And finds its comments clear and fine.
The branch now points to main ahead,
Two inputs leave the workflow thread.
The rabbit hops with ears held high,
As tidy notes go skipping by.

Pin the reusable workflow to a reviewed revision.

.github/dependabot.yml states that reusable-workflow pins are maintained upstream, and .github/workflows/autoassign.yml uses the mutable @main reference. This workflow runs with issues: write and pull-requests: write, so an upstream change can alter a write-capable workflow without a change here. Replace @main with the full SHA of a reviewed upstream commit that contains the required fallback. GitHub recommends SHA pinning for reusable workflows.
