Summary

  • Add a machine-readable tree-ring tool card.
  • Regenerate README.md from scripts/generate_readme.py.

Why it fits

Tree Ring Memory is a local-first Rust CLI/TUI for AI-agent memory lifecycle. It fits the registry as high-risk agent-context tooling because it can persist, audit, consolidate, export, redact, and delete local agent memory.

Validation

  • python3 scripts/generate_readme.py
  • git diff --check
  • curl -I -L --max-time 15 https://github.com/TerminallyLazy/Tree-Ring-Memory returns HTTP 200

Code Review

This pull request adds a new tool, tree-ring (a local-first Rust CLI/TUI for AI-agent memory lifecycle), to the registry. This includes updating the tool counts and categories in the README.md and creating a new YAML definition file under data/tools/tree-ring.yaml. The review feedback suggests standardizing the YAML indentation for consistency and removing the unnecessary package_json boilerplate block since the tool is Rust-based.

Important

The consumer version of Gemini Code Assist on GitHub is being sunset. Starting June 18, 2026, new organization installations will be blocked, and all code review activity will officially cease on July 17, 2026.

The YAML file has inconsistent indentation for list items across different sections (e.g., category and lang have 0-space indentation, version_args has 2-space indentation, and files has 4-space indentation). Standardizing the indentation to use 2 spaces for nested lists and 4 spaces for nested list items under sub-keys improves readability and maintainability.

Additionally, since tree-ring is a Rust-based CLI/TUI, the package_json detection block is unnecessary boilerplate and can be safely omitted.

Addressed the review in commit 4a212ce: normalized the YAML indentation and removed the Rust-irrelevant package_json block. YAML parsing, the repository README generator, and the diff check pass.

Maintainer-ready follow-up: current head 4a212ce remains an additive registry entry. The YAML parses, the repository README generator is idempotent, generated counts/content match, and git diff --check passes. This is ready to merge; the remaining merge gate is controlled by this repository.
