…ng extensions Specification extensions (x-*) placed on a bindings object were reported as "<Kind>Binding x-... is not found" errors, and in V2 they were dropped as well. Binding keys without a registered parser were reported as errors even though the document is valid. The eight V2/V3 binding loaders now share BindingDeserializer.LoadBindings, which: - skips extension keys and reads them as extensions (V2 and V3) - adds a warning instead of an error when no parser is registered for a key - no longer adds a second "not found" error when a parser fails Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

There might be an issue here, in that without a parser, the document cannot be reserialized to back to the 'same' document shape. We would at least need a test showing this scenario. 2 bindings, 1 with a parser and 1 without. @bielu

The extension fix, is a clear win. Good find!
There is a slightly breaking change here, in that changing the error to a warning 'could' be breaking existing implementors, this is however fine, if we can prove that raw bindings are preserved once re-serialized (They aren't).
This leaves us at keeping the error around (as the document model drops them), until we implement a way to preserve the raw binding. (There might be an opportunity to do this using the workspace and asyncapiany to store it actually... but should be a follow up PR i reckon.)

🗄️ Data Integrity & Integration | 🟠 Major | ⚡ Quick win
Unregistered bindings are now dropped silently, and they are not preserved.
Before this change, an unregistered binding name added an entry to Diagnostic.Errors. Now it adds only a warning. The binding is still not added to AsyncApiBindings, so reserialization loses it. A caller that checks diagnostic.Errors.Count == 0 before it writes the document back will now drop user data with no error. The PR reviewer (VisualBean) raised the same concern. Keep the error until the model can preserve raw bindings. The other option is to keep the raw node, for example as an extension-like raw binding, so that the warning does not hide data loss.

@VisualBean Fair point—you raised the data-loss concern first. My review comment repeated your finding rather than adding new analysis. I should have credited you clearly.

Problem
Reading a bindings object that carries a specification extension next to the protocol keys:
added the error
ChannelBinding x-ext is not found, although the document is valid. The binding loaders treated every property as a binding key. In V3 the extension was still read afterwards; in V2 it was dropped.Separately, a binding key with no registered parser (for example
natswhen only the Kafka bindings are registered) was reported as an error, even though the spec allows any protocol name.Change
The eight V2/V3 server/channel/operation/message binding loaders now delegate to one helper,
BindingDeserializer.LoadBindings, which:x-keys in the binding pass and reads them as extensions, in V2 as well as V3ChannelBinding 'nats' was ignored because no binding parser is registered for it.AsyncApiException(the parser's own error is still reported)Behaviour change to be aware of
Unregistered bindings move from
diagnostic.Errorstodiagnostic.Warnings, and the message text changes. The binding is still not loaded. Callers that relied onErrorsto detect unregistered bindings need to look atWarningsinstead.Tests
Added
BindingsDiagnostics_Should, covering both cases for all four binding kinds in V2 and V3 (16 cases). Full suite: 238 passed on net8.0.🤖 Generated with Claude Code
Summary by CodeRabbit
x-extension fields on server, channel, operation, and message bindings without warnings or errors. Extensions are retained alongside the other binding data.
