Qualify cellulose-MFC metabolite transfer and remove localization causality #1324
Record: kb/communities/Clostridium_Cellulolyticum_Geobacter_Cellulose_MFC_Coculture.yaml (CommunityMech:000175). Reviewed at db05129c5f8a9fb47b6ed716405dce1be845a207.
PMID:17695929 (primary abstract) supports binary cellulose-to-electricity conversion, negative pure-culture controls and increased CMC degradation. Its hydrogen/acetate/ethanol list describes residual metabolites, not direct measurement that all three are consumed by Geobacter. MUTUALISM on electricity production additionally asserts reciprocal fitness beyond the accessible comparisons.
PMID:18725730 (primary abstract) reports FISH/qPCR spatial distributions on particulate cellulose, with both partners in suspension and biofilm on soluble CMC. The spatial-distribution node's arrow to electricity production upgrades localization into causal necessity or benefit without a supporting localization perturbation in the accessible evidence.
Acceptance
Preserve the supported conversion arrow and measured degradation/current outcomes.
Separate residual pools from partner-resolved uptake, and functional complementarity from reciprocal fitness.
Retain substrate-dependent localization, including the soluble-substrate comparison; remove its unsupported causal arrow and categorical niche interpretation.
Record the abstract-bounded source scope and a focused mechanistic gap; add regression coverage and append-only history.
Public DOI routes were inaccessible in this review; a public search and author-institution records did not yield a body. This is an access-attempt limit, not an assertion that no body exists. Issue dedup searched all 665 existing issue titles/bodies and ignored/hidden local review/history/research/test files; comments were not exhaustively searched. #965 concerns a different methane panel.
Addressed by #1328 at 3619c52dbd64fccba58dfcd1a3815d6d3685411c. Exact-head source-based self-adversarial review: #1328 (review). All 30 local gates pass (247 regressions; 79 MATCH snippets; three rights tests; deterministic renders and actual post-commit docs-current). See committed batch-19 decision/adversarial/validation artifacts for source bounds and node/arrow accounting. Kept open until protected main merge; #1327 is a separate unresolved non-graph follow-up.
