Bound HAMBI composition outcomes and competitive-sorting interpretation #1493

Open

Description

@realmarcin

Finding

kb/communities/HAMBI_Carbon_Gradient_SynCom16.yaml assigns unqualified COMPETITION to the community-state outcome and does not explicitly list its canonical participants. The controlled carbon-gradient experiment supports composition shifts, while the authors' competitive-sorting interpretation and monoculture trait predictions do not selectively isolate the mediator.

Repair

Retain the single positive community-level outcome, explicitly include all 16 canonical strains, and preserve the competitive-sorting interpretation with its limits. Distinguish relative and OD-scaled abundance from viable counts; do not imply selective lag-time/pH mediation, extinction or demonstrated alternative stable states. Record a focused knowledge gap without adding speculative arrows.

Review Scope

PMID:42367191 complete cached main text, Methods and embedded captions read; primary PubMed abstract corroborated. No original figure images, supplements, raw data or code audited. Source-based self-adversarial review, not independent approval. Existing closed #1059/#1060 concern non-graph cultivation/snippet repairs, not this issue. Leave open until protected main merge.
