The existing glycerol/acetate pathway assigns the bulk observations to particular MAGs more strongly than the primary discussion warrants. Both MAGs encode glycerol-to-acetate potential; the MAG003 initiation and MAG013 acetate-use sequence is a proposed model, not measured partner-resolved flux. Reinoculation on days 32 and 86 also prevents interpreting the time course as unassisted succession. Acetate-toxicity relief, exact pH thresholds and complete mineralization are not selectively established.

Resolution

Keep the author-proposed participant subsets, including the MAG003-only first node previously requested in #816, but qualify both nodes and their one direction as PARTIAL. Preserve positive bulk sulfate/chemistry outcomes separately from organism assignments and retain the existing minor-acidogen discussion. Document the missing pathway perturbations and flux measurements. Add regression coverage and append-only curation history.

This is distinct from #816 (participant narrowing already present) and #815 (original rendering complaint addressed by endpoint removal in merged PR #814). The new source-backed outcome-node restoration is tracked separately under #1504 until the one-community Edison workflow is completed and the report checked against primary evidence. Do not close that research gap through this existing-node repair.
