Qualify MSC2 chitin sharing and Streptomyces induction as mechanistic hypotheses #1567

Closed

Description

@realmarcin

kb/communities/MSC2_Model_Soil_Consortium.yaml, PMID:36154140. Preserve all three nodes and both existing biological arrows, with HYPOTHESIZED causal descriptions. Five isolates grew individually on chitin, but this does not assign exclusive initiating roles in the mixed community. Metatranscriptomic changes compare 70 and 118 hours within the community, not matched mono-versus-community expression. Metabolites were extracted from cell pellets after discarding supernatant, despite extracellular-pool wording in the Introduction. Therefore NAG accumulation is not directly measured extracellular transfer. Mixed-bag FBA does not retain species boundaries. Streptomyces community abundance and chitin-associated transcripts support an emergent-role interpretation without directly measured enzyme activity or selectively established product-mediated induction. Pairwise and leave-one-out tests are proposed future work. Preserve positive observations, qualify mechanisms, and keep earlier dangling outcome arrows deleted. Close only after protected-main merge.

Source-based self-adversarial review, not independent approval. Existing-graph repair only; no new nodes/arrows or paid Edison submission.

    Addressed in #1570 at e788ade; exact-head self-review:#1570 (review). 595 passed in 208.89s (0:03:28); post-commit docs-current passed. Every-node/arrow decisions and actual output digests committed with explicit primary-source limits. Not independent approval. Close only after protected-main merge. Related1569 remains unresolved.
