Correct magnetite battery charging and mineral-mediated interaction scope #1756

Open

Description

Finding

The current oxidation-to-battery arrow incorrectly says oxidation charges the mineral. The primary paper describes Fe(III) reduction as charging and Fe(II) oxidation as discharging. Preserve the demonstrated reversible coculture redox cycle and all five directions, bounded to externally controlled light/electron-donor conditions. Mineral-mediated electron storage does not establish direct R. palustris-to-Geobacter nutrient CROSS_FEEDING, resource competition/NICHE_PARTITIONING, or metabolic product-removal SYNTROPHY. Replace pairwise beneficiary assignments with explicitly scoped community processes; remove iron-ion-transport annotations unsupported by redox data. Distinguish the DOI cache editorial summary from the primary abstract.
