Prepare a JOSS candidate with consistent sole-author metadata, an author-confirmed Acta Materialia research-use record, current submission guidance, manuscript/bibliography updates and executable artifact checks. Keep historical validation and archive records distinct from the current candidate; public-history verification, the historical research-use mapping and final human review remain explicitly pending.
Validation: manuscript structure/citation checks and CFF schema validation pass. Distribution builds completed; current test, installed-wheel and official PDF results are recorded in the PR checks. No editorial eligibility or acceptance is claimed.
The author explicitly authorized MIT licensing for current source. Preserve superseded license/metadata under docs/history/pre-mit, add wheel/sdist packaging and schema resources, retain legacy module/executable identities, and add a JOSS paper plus package/PDF workflows. Update release checks to allow an honestly undated preparation candidate.
