How is the EC firmware in this repostory related to FrameworkComputer/zephyr? #76
Zephyr is a real-time operating system. It is also the operating system the EC firmware is built on top of1. It does not replace the code in this repository; it is required by it.
Footnotes
for all Framework programs after and including the AMD 7040-series laptops. ↩

The explanation by @DHowett is correct.
Our EC firmware has been based on Zephyr since 2023, starting with our AMD laptops and everything since then.
For example see:
EmbeddedController/.github/workflows/zephyr-build.yml
Line 54 in 01e6abe
During the build we pull in zephyr as a dependency.
