GKasperF/README.md

Hello, welcome to my GitHub. My name is Gustavo Kasper, but I usually go by Kasper. I have a PhD focused on Information Theory. I have done research on information theory, coding theory, multi-user wireless communications and low-latency communication in high round-trip time applications (e.g., satellite communication or cross-globe wired communication), with a focus on streaming codes, but also a bit on retransmission strategies, including a reinforcement learning use-case.

Currently I am employed at Huawei Canada and my work is closely related to 3GPP standard for 6G, following RAN1 meetings closely and writing intellectual property for the company. I have focused on CSI acquisition technologies, in particular focused on data-driven methods, which are mostly captured under the "downloadable codebook" study items, but also on the study of long-term channel information. On the data-driven side, I have implemented, trained and tested transformer architectures for multiple wireless problems, with a focus on low complexity, low latency networks. I have also developed AI tools running on open source models to help with internal code review, ideas brainstorming, code documentation and smoothing the learning curve of (especially legacy) codebases.

As side projects on my own time, I have been learning to "vibe code" with Claude code, while ensuring the code generated follows good practices and principles, while learning these myself in parallel.

I have a solid Python background, in particular with numpy and torch. In the past, I have worked with MATLAB, C, and Assembly for AD Blackfin, albeit admitedly these are rusty skills. As a hobbyist, I toy with Javascript, but lately I have deferred most of it to AI agents.

Outside my computer, I enjoy playing boardgames and cardgames. In recent years, I have played some Pokemon TCG, although I'm currently in a hiatus due to not enjoying the format. I enjoy playing chess, although I haven't studied it in a while.

Anyway, welcome and feel free to look around. It's a modest household, but a cozy one, if you ignore the mess.
