Stacked on #12: once #12 merges, retarget this PR to main.

What changes

A rewritten README.md for engineers and recruiters first, with an openly apologetic framing and a manuscript look that matches the playground and gallery.

  • Hero: banner in light and dark variants (<picture>), live CI/Pages/release/license badges, a stats strip, and buttons for the playground and gallery.
  • Terminal recording: theosc check passes Gödel's argument, rejects an edit that claims too much (T1 line 24 with ◇ removed) and rejects affirming the consequent with a counterexample, then compiles to .theos and inspects the chunks. Every line is real theosc output.
  • Playground recording: the real WebAssembly site rejects affirming the consequent, then accepts modus ponens after four edits.
  • Native Mermaid: a condensed graph of Gödel's argument and the checker pipeline.
  • Library table: real verdicts from theosc analyze, including the two arguments whose recorded objections still stand.
  • .theos byte map: every byte of the 452-byte spec example, coloured by chunk. It matches docs/spec/theos-v2.md byte for byte.
  • Collapsibles: a language tour (the snippet passes theosc check), scripture-check output, a CLI reference and the project layout.

tools/readme/render.cjs regenerates every image in docs/assets/ from build/theosc and web/dist, using Playwright and ffmpeg. CLAUDE.md documents the command.

Checks

  • Rendered the README with GitHub's markdown CSS and Mermaid 11 in light and dark; both Mermaid diagrams parse.
  • The release badge reads "no releases" until v1.0.0 is tagged.

Generated by Claude Code

A manuscript-styled banner (light and dark), a terminal recording of
theosc checking Gödel's argument, rejecting an overreaching edit and a
fallacy, then compiling to .theos; a playground recording; a byte map of
a .theos file; native Mermaid graphs of Gödel's argument and the
pipeline; a library table with real verdicts; and collapsible depth.

Every image is rendered from the real tool by tools/readme/render.cjs.
