Magpie v2607 speakers map to wrong id. This fixes the conversion script. Upstream HF GGUF models still need to be updated

📝 Summary

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Bug Fixes
    • MagpieTTS conversions now use checkpoint speaker names in numeric ID order, keeping voice names consistent in GGUF metadata and conversion summaries.
    • Conversion now reports errors for missing, invalid, or inconsistent speaker maps and unresolved or ambiguous referenced files.
  • Documentation
    • Added guidance on speaker mappings, conversion requirements, and affected v2607 models. Existing GGUFs and published downloads are unchanged.

Walkthrough

TTS conversion now reads speaker names from checkpoint configuration, validates the mapping against baked speaker data, and writes names in speaker-ID order to GGUF metadata and the JSON summary. Documentation describes version-specific mappings and reconversion of affected v2607 GGUFs.

Changes

TTS speaker-name conversion

Layer / File(s) Summary
Resolve and validate checkpoint speaker maps
conversion/tts.py, tests/conversion/tts_speaker_names_test.py
The converter reads inline speaker maps or resolves a referenced artifact from the checkpoint. Archive extraction includes the referenced artifact. Validation rejects missing or empty maps, invalid names or IDs, non-contiguous IDs, speaker-count mismatches, and missing or ambiguous artifact matches.
Write resolved names to conversion outputs
conversion/tts.py, tests/conversion/tts_speaker_names_test.py, docs/tts/models.md
Metadata generation uses the checkpoint root to resolve names and checks the baked context-length count against the speaker count. GGUF metadata and the JSON summary use names ordered by speaker ID. Tests cover archive conversion layouts. Documentation describes the v2602 and v2607 mappings and reconversion guidance for affected v2607 GGUFs.

Merge Risk: 🔵 Low · up to 7bd50

Some checkpoints may fail conversion or receive incorrect speaker names. The remaining risks are bounded, but both paths should be corrected or explicitly accepted before merging.

RetriggerConfidence Score: 5/5

[Medium impact] The PR appears safe to merge; no actionable problems were found.

Summary

The converter now reads speaker_map and writes voice names in numeric speaker ID order instead of using a fixed list.

  • MagpieTTS GGUFs now match voice names to each checkpoint’s speaker IDs.

anand-nv explicitly acknowledges that published GGUF models still need updating. This PR changes future conversions, not existing downloads.

- Line 95: Update the candidate search in the code around `candidates` to match
speaker-map filenames literally: traverse the tree, keep only regular files
whose `path.name` equals `basename`, and open only those matches rather than
using `basename` as a `rglob` pattern.
- Line 63: Update the configuration selection used by extract_nemo() and
read_config() so both stages use the same priority-selected configuration for
speaker-map extraction and conversion; avoid independently selecting
model_config.yaml or config.yaml in a way that can yield different speaker maps
or names.
