675-683: 📐 Maintainability & Code Quality | 🔵 Trivial | ⚡ Quick winThe wait loop's "closed or changed" branch is untested.
test_wait_checks_final_commitcovers the merged exit and this test covers the timeout exit. No test covers_publishLines 864-869, where the PR is closed or the head SHA changes during the wait. That branch also calls_disable_auto_merge. 284-285: 📐 Maintainability & Code Quality | 🔵 Trivial | ⚡ Quick winThe fake ignores the
headfilter, so_find_followupselection is not covered.
_find_followupbuilds a query withstate, base, andhead=<owner>:<branch>and depends on GitHub returning only the matching PR. This route returns every stored PR and ignores the query string.Worldonly ever stores PR 99, so two behaviors are never exercised: selection of the correct follow-up PR when unrelated PRs exist, and the "Ambiguous existing promotion PRs" guard atscripts/maintain_prims_ts.pyLine 393.Suggest parsing the
headparameter and filtering, then adding one test that stores an unrelated open PR and asserts that_find_followupignores it.As per path instructions, review for "mocks that bypass the behavior purportedly under test".

calls and promotion-tool commits use that local setting regardless of the
developer’s global Git configuration.

In `@scripts/vendor/bot.py`:
- Line 615: Reorder the condition in the startup loop so `process.get("pid") ==
child.pid` is checked before calling `_running(args.workdir)`. Keep the existing
conditions and behavior otherwise unchanged.
- Around line 337-358: Update `inspect` to remove PRs from `tracked` when they
reach a final outcome: closed without merging, merged with `_inputs` returning
`None`, or merged with a pin no longer pending promotion. Add a small retirement
helper that removes the PR number from the stored `tracked` list; leave
retryable outcomes tracked so `_discover` can re-add retired PRs when they are
updated.
In `@scripts/vendor/promote.py`:
- Around line 236-237: Update _record_text to reject serialized metadata
containing any current or legacy provenance marker before adding the surrounding
markers. This prevents marker text in reason fields from creating ambiguous
commit messages; keep validation scoped to serialization.
- Around line 392-400: Update the resume flow in main to recover and adopt the
durable promotion record before _make_plan reads mutable upstream PR metadata;
ensure _adopt_record uses the stored record as authoritative rather than
rejecting it because live attribution changed. Preserve the existing
completed-promotion handling through _find_followup.
In `@tests/unittest/others/test_maintain_prims_ts.py`:
- Line 1318: Strengthen test_recovery_rejects_changed_artifacts_without_writes
by parameterizing each tamper mode with its expected rejection-message fragment,
then pass that fragment to pytest.raises via match. Preserve the existing tamper
cases and recovery flow while ensuring each mode verifies its specific safeguard
rather than merely any ValueError.
- Line 836: Update the worktree-check test’s pytest.raises assertion to require
the expected “not a git repository” message, so unrelated AssertionErrors from
the test harness fail the test.
- Around line 1-3: Add a CLI-level resume test in test_maintain_prims_ts.py that
invokes main with --from-pr-description and --auto-match after the upstream
state changes, verifying the durable snapshot remains authoritative. Reuse the
existing resume-test setup and assertions where possible, while preserving
coverage for the CLI selection path rather than calling _make_plan or _publish
directly.
In `@tests/unittest/others/test_vendor_bot.py`:
- Line 61: Update the duplicate-key test case in the test using _UniqueKeyLoader
to provide two distinct, valid nonempty upstream_prs values, so it fails only
when duplicate keys are accepted.
- Around line 621-627: Add a 15-second timeout to the status subprocess.run
call. After the daemon shutdown deadline loop, check b._running(workdir) and
terminate the daemon using its PID from the status output or lock file if it is
still running, before the final assertion.
- Around line 113-115: Update the source fixture setup before its _commit calls
to disable commit signing in the temporary repository, overriding any global
commit.gpgsign setting.
- Around line 1-3: Add focused tests in the metadata test section of
test_vendor_bot.py that call the real metadata.resolve and verify rejection of a
non-bare cache, a non-fast-forward source update, and a closed, unmerged
upstream PR. Extend the publication test to assert the expected
contributor_metadata.metadata_digest fingerprint behavior.

Automatically added "ci: full pre-merge approved" because this PR has satisfied the required GitHub review approvals. Unresolved review conversations and other required checks remain independent merge requirements. |
Description
Add generic vendor-source management, restartable lock-only promotion, and an
optional local promotion bot for entries in
3rdparty/vendor_sources.lock.yaml.Repositories, branches, credentials, and runtime directories are operator inputs;
no personal authentication or runtime state is committed.
The source-update PR reviews vendored code. After it merges, promotion verifies
the immutable pin and materialization, fast-forwards the canonical source branch,
and creates/reuses a separate URL/branch-only follow-up PR. The source SHA,
selected files, compatibility patch, and digests remain unchanged. Promotion
provenance and DCO sign-off are retained in the final squash message.

scripts/vendor_sources.pyandscripts/maintain_prims_ts.pyentry pointsare removed; no backward-compatible wrappers are provided. Existing historical
promotion provenance remains readable.
Contributor metadata and feedback
Contributors list upstream PRs rather than writing a complete commit map:
The metadata parser normalizes PR-description line endings. The matcher compares
only lock-selected files, ignoring unchanged diff context and Git-generated hunk
labels while retaining changed-line whitespace, paths, modes, and hunk boundaries.
Exact matches are preferred; a unique upstream PR reaching 90% line similarity
is also accepted, with score and method recorded. Similarity and author-resolved
attributions remain
retain-until-verifiedfor a future refresh; matching does notauthorize dropping code. Ambiguities belong to the source PR author. Genuinely
unpaired updates use
unpaired_reasoninstead ofupstream_prs.Feedback names missing start/end markers, explains malformed or duplicated blocks,
includes corrective examples, and distinguishes author corrections from maintainer
actions. Unmatched commits include similarity diagnostics. Network/authentication
failures are logged for the operator rather than posted as contributor errors.
Successful validation never approves code.
Scoped monitoring and feedback reconciliation
and release branches can use different canonical branches through separate
workdirs and explicit launches; configuring main never enables release monitoring.
Retargeted PRs are ignored by their old monitor, with a fresh base check before feedback.
other-vendor changes, and patch/digest-only changes do not become promotion candidates.
Eligible promotions still validate against the current canonical pin.
commit gets instructions to restore only the canonical URL/branch. Keep the
commit, other lock fields, vendored files, and patch unchanged; no upstream-PR
metadata is needed. Inherited references and configured refresh targets are excluded.
reviews from GitHub even without SQLite history. Update obsolete feedback,
update an existing review when the author-actionable problem changes, and dismiss
only the bot's own resolved metadata objections when authorized. If dismissal is
forbidden, ask an authorized maintainer; never approve code or supersede a manual review.
Local daemon, recovery, and canonical refreshes
--once, and detached--daemonmodes, plusstatusand gracefulstop.--publishenables remote writes. Bot-generatedpromotions always enable squash auto-merge and request the verified lock-only CI

--auto-mergeexplicitly.--workdirholds the SQLite cache, logs, source cache, process lock, and isolatedpromotion worktrees. INFO includes poll summaries, transitions, and 30-second

policy; process liveness alone is not successful reconciliation.
merged PRs, subject to
--since. Recovery verifies signed promotion artifacts andreconciles comments/reviews/PRs, CI-skip requests, and auto-merge without duplication.
Relaunch with the same identity/base/canonical configuration, cutoff, and refresh policy.
Before opening it, stop its monitor or supply repeatable, operator-audited

outstanding old promotions for the same consumer repository/base; unrelated
consumer promotions do not block it, while malformed scope provenance requires
inspection. It atomically archives branch-dependent results, retains caches and
discovery cutoff, clears stale health, and forces revalidation. Repeating migration
is a no-op; changing base/identity requires a different workdir.

This PR changes tools, tests, docs, entry-point references, and CODEOWNERS coverage,
not runtime kernels, vendor pins, compatibility patches, or dependency versions.
Periodic upstream rebasing/materialization remains a separate maintainer workflow.
Use one publishing monitor per consumer repository/base/vendor, and serialize
publication across monitors that share a canonical source branch. The workdir
lock is local, not distributed. Required checks/reviews and GitHub permissions
still apply. Publication uses non-force pushes and preserves recorded operations
for recovery. The bot does not close old PRs, delete branches, approve code, or
resolve contributor ambiguities. CI skip applies only to verified lock-only
promotions: this tooling PR requires normal CI.
Test Coverage
conflict checks, and CI-list validation. Targeted Python syntax checks,
git diff --check, and offline integrity checks for all three locked vendorspassed. Offline checks do not claim upstream materialization was reverified.

AGENTS.md, resolved by retaining both upstreamtesting/review guidance and the vendor-tool instructions. The before/after
range-diff preserves all eight original commits; only two documentation-context
hunks differ. The tool and test files are byte-identical across the rebase.
A separate documentation commit updates scope, feedback, recovery, and CI guidance.
PR Checklist
Please review the following before submitting your PR:
Description, tool documentation, workflow diagram, and agent instructions are updated.
Code follows TRT-LLM guidelines and DCO sign-off requirements.
Tests cover new code paths and failure/recovery behavior.
No runtime API, dependency, model architecture, or inference architecture changes.
Ownership covers the relocated vendor tooling.
Required owner reviews and CI must complete before merging; metadata validation is not approval.
Please check this after reviewing the above items as appropriate for this PR.
