Route the QSA sparse core attention to FlashInfer's PrimTS QToken-KvBlock-Sparse kernel behind QSASparseParams.sparse_core_backend (triton | prims_ts | auto, env TLLM_QSA_SPARSE_CORE). PrimTS consumes the indexer's compact block IDs directly, so the Triton token expansion is skipped on that path; the output gate stays on apply_output_gate. Plans are cached per geometry and per layer K/V buffer over one shared workspace, and FP8 caches quantize Q per call with the scale folded into sm_scale. Adds a unit test against qsa_sparse_gqa_reference and a standalone A/B microbenchmark of the two sparse cores. Signed-off-by: Faraz Khoubsirat <58580514+farazkh80@users.noreply.github.com>
Score compressed keys with a task-scheduled tcgen05 kernel instead of the Triton scorer when sparse_core_backend selects PrimTS. The kernel streams the paged index cache with one TMA box per 8-row core group, reduces the four indexer heads in registers and stores fp32 scores directly; tile metadata is built on device so the hot path has no host synchronization. Contract matches triton_qsa_paged_index_scores, including only_visible_blocks, so TopK consumes the logits unchanged. Signed-off-by: Faraz Khoubsirat <58580514+farazkh80@users.noreply.github.com>
The prefill chunk loop passes row slices of packed metadata that start on 4 B boundaries; the scorer's raw-pointer path needs 16 B, so clone misaligned inputs on the host. Signed-off-by: Faraz Khoubsirat <58580514+farazkh80@users.noreply.github.com>
The index-K cache view from the V2 pool is coalesced with K/V (page stride larger than one page), so the PrimTS scorer's alignment helper copied the whole cache on every call (~0.8 ms per layer per step). The kernel's TMA map now takes the page stride as its own dimension and the view is passed through. The sparse core no longer reads request indices back to the host to build qo_indptr; the hook passes boundaries derived from the host seq_lens. Prefill rows are padded to a 256-row bucket so plan-cache misses (~40 ms each) stop recurring on every mixed prefill/decode iteration. Also wires the TLLM_QSA_INDEXER override that selects the indexer scorer independently of the sparse core. Signed-off-by: Faraz Khoubsirat <58580514+farazkh80@users.noreply.github.com>
The FlashInfer QToken wrapper re-prepares its launch, with host readbacks, whenever the qo_indptr storage changes, and a fresh qo_indptr was built for every layer. Route offsets now live in a persistent buffer per route count, shared by all QSA layers of a forward and rewritten only when the request layout changes. Prefill chunks are aligned to the 256-row plan bucket so full chunks need no padding, the core writes into the caller's output slice, request boundaries stay host ints, and the indexer passes raw addresses and scalars to its TVM-FFI entry. auto now gates decode by measured Rubin crossovers: the core runs PrimTS from 2 decode rows (was 64), the indexer from 32 (no gate before). Signed-off-by: Faraz Khoubsirat <58580514+farazkh80@users.noreply.github.com>
…scoring Queue the next chunk's indexer scoring and Top-K before preparing the current chunk's PrimTS launch on the host, so the GPU keeps working while the FlashInfer wrapper runs. Chunks write disjoint Top-K rows, so the reorder changes no results. Signed-off-by: Faraz Khoubsirat <58580514+farazkh80@users.noreply.github.com>

The sparse core does not run at this commit. requirements.txt still pins flashinfer-python==0.6.18, and that wheel has no QTokenKvBlockSparsePagedTSWrapper / q_token_kv_block_sparse_* under flashinfer/attention/prims_ts/ (checked against an installed 0.6.18; docker/common/ installs from requirements.txt). So _prims_ts_api() returns None, auto resolves to Triton after one warning, and every kernel test in test_qsa_prims_ts_core.py skips. What actually ships as the default is PrimTS indexer (in-tree, no FlashInfer dependency) + Triton core, a combination that appears in none of the perf tables. Please either bump the pin in this PR (and make the core tests fail rather than skip when the pinned version is expected to provide the kernel), or state in the description that the core stays off until the FlashInfer bump lands.
FP8 K/V + decode + CUDA graphs. [prims_ts_core.py:247](https://github.com/NVIDIA/TensorRT-LLM/pull/20714/files#diff-829c9a31bcc4ca73630fbd75c3493fae58523292c287e0f07bbd7b3610873079R247) reads the per-call Q scale back to the host. QSA decode is graph-captured (indexer.py:434), _SUPPORTED_KV_DTYPES includes FP8, and auto has no capture guard on this path, so once the dependency is present this errors at capture (default error mode) or freezes the warmup scale into every replay. The core tests have no FP8 case and no capture test. Details inline.
Description hygiene.
- FP8 numerics now differ from the Triton path with no user-reachable opt-out (the cited
glm_kpool/deepseek_v4precedents do not change numerics). Please add accuracy evidence for the FP8 K/V configuration and a note indeployment-guide-for-qwen3.8-flash-next-on-trtllm.md, which lists FP8 KV as supported. prims_ts_indexer/*.pycarry "Copyright (c) 2026 by FlashInfer team" while the description calls the indexer TRT-LLM-local with upstreaming as a follow-up.AGENTS.mdrequires the NVIDIA SPDX header on new files; if this code is derived from FlashInfer, say so in the description.- Existing
test_qsa_sparse.pyFP8 cases constructQSASparseParamswith the defaultauto, so they will switch kernels on SM100+ the moment the pin bumps; check their tolerances or pinsparse_core_backend="triton"there.

There was a problem hiding this comment.
Plan-cache optimization on our side, not a kernel need: plan is keyed on the route count and a miss costs ~40 ms per layer, which happened every mixed prefill/decode step. Padding to a 256-row bucket (inert suffix routes, sliced off) bounds the plan set.
On the metadata: seq_lens-only is fixed-Q decode after #6774, not yet in the vendored tree or any release; will drop the two tensors for decode once the dependency moves past it.
There was a problem hiding this comment.
@farazkh80 thanks. the miss cost seems too long as the number of variants (query group size in the range of 1~8) should be small across different number of rows. Or you are referring to the policy-selection cost ? Can you help me investigate it a bit with agents + your local environment. After that, I can fix it from the flashinfer side if needed.
There was a problem hiding this comment.
I did some additional profiling: 36 of the 38 ms per miss is cutlass.utils.hardware_info.get_max_active_clusters, which JIT-compiles its occupancy probe on every plan; the plan itself is ~2 ms. Your flashinfer-ai/flashinfer#6529 already caches that query per device and cluster size (flashinfer/attention/prims_ts/_hardware.py, _query_max_active_clusters).
I am waiting for next flashinfer release to include both flashinfer-ai/flashinfer#5351 and flashinfer-ai/flashinfer#6529 and I can drop row bucketing.

…e, decode buckets Import the QToken sparse wrapper from the vendored backends/prims_ts package like the other PrimTS consumers, using its seq_len_q plan API. Cast Q to FP8 with unit scale for FP8 caches instead of a per-call dynamic scale, which needed a host readback that CUDA-graph capture forbids. Bucket decode rows to 8 so eager decode batches reuse plans. Gate the PrimTS indexer on page geometry and DSL importability, pass kv_block_size by name, and give the indexer files the NVIDIA header. Tests: FP8 K/V prefill and decode against the reference, decode graph capture and replay, decode plan buckets, independent indexer overrides; the core tests fail instead of skipping when the vendored kernel is missing on a supported GPU. The microbenchmark exits non-zero on a reference mismatch. Signed-off-by: Faraz Khoubsirat <58580514+farazkh80@users.noreply.github.com>

The decode capture path, the FP8 Q handling, and the test coverage from the last round all check out against the current code; both new test files are collected on B300 through the recursive unittest/_torch/attention entry in l0_b300.yml. Two things remain that I would fix before merge, plus description/docs hygiene.
Description is stale. The sparse-core bullet still says "FP8 Q quantized per call with the scale folded into sm_scale". Since ee49a8b the code casts Q with a unit scale clamped to E4M3 ([prims_ts_core.py:263](https://github.com/NVIDIA/TensorRT-LLM/pull/20714/files#diff-829c9a31bcc4ca73630fbd75c3493fae58523292c287e0f07bbd7b3610873079R263)), which the deployment guide now describes correctly. Please update the description so it matches the behavior that ships.
Default flip with no opt-out or release note. This changes the default QSA kernel on SM100/103/107 and, for FP8 KV caches, changes numerics (Q cast to FP8 vs. K/V upcast to BF16). The DeepSeek-V4 PrimTS switch in the same release got a Release Notes bullet and a user-facing escape hatch (TLLM_FMHA_LIBS=-prims_ts_sparse_mla). sparse_core_backend is explicitly a test-only knob, so a user hitting a PrimTS-specific problem has no way back to Triton without a code change. Please add a docs/source/release-notes.md entry and consider an env-var opt-out mirroring the DeepSeek-V4 one.
Inline: the route-offset no-replanning test patches the installed flashinfer module rather than the vendored one the core imports, so its assertion is vacuous; and the plan-key comment claims a bound that the route count in the key does not honor.

This patches flashinfer.attention.prims_ts.q_token_kv_block_sparse_metadata from the installed wheel, but [prims_ts_core.py:36](https://github.com/NVIDIA/TensorRT-LLM/pull/20714/files#diff-829c9a31bcc4ca73630fbd75c3493fae58523292c287e0f07bbd7b3610873079R36) imports the wrapper from the vendored tensorrt_llm._torch.attention.backends.prims_ts, and that module's run calls its own module-level _prepare_q_token_kv_block_sparse_attention (q_token_kv_block_sparse_metadata.py:813). The patch intercepts nothing, so prepares == 0 is true regardless of whether route offsets are reused, and the test does not verify the sync-free claim in _route_offsets. Patch tensorrt_llm._torch.attention.backends.prims_ts.q_token_kv_block_sparse_metadata._prepare_q_token_kv_block_sparse_attention instead, and add a negative control (a layout with a different route count that must re-prepare, asserting the counter reaches 1) so the counter is shown to be live.

num_routes is in the plan key, and make_q_token_kv_block_sparse_qo_indptr chunks each request independently, so the route count depends on how many requests sit in the chunk and on each length mod 4. The comment at line 16 says row bucketing bounds the keys to max_num_tokens / bucket per layer; in practice every new request composition at the same padded row count is another ~40 ms miss per layer. The vendored docstring says only nonempty routes are bounded to group_size rows, which suggests trailing empty routes are legal. If so, pad num_routes up to a bucket with inert routes the same way rows are padded; if not, update the comment to state the real bound and consider whether the miss cost is acceptable for serving with varying batch shapes.

importorskip("cutlass.experimental.task_scheduling") turns a missing task-scheduling DSL on a supported GPU into a skip, so the indexer tests can go green without running. The core tests in [test_qsa_prims_ts_core.py:58](https://github.com/NVIDIA/TensorRT-LLM/pull/20714/files#diff-a53c89cd6508281092052142afb931d702bb5a7596927471f6dbc48248a12f8eR58) assert availability instead. Since the vendored PrimTS kernels already depend on this DSL in the CI image, make this an assertion as well so a packaging regression fails rather than skips.
Description
PrimTS kernels for Qwen3.8-Flash-Next QSA attention, selected at runtime like
glm_kpool/deepseek_v4: PrimTS on SM100/103/107 when inputs qualify, Triton otherwise and for small decode batches.QSASparseParams.sparse_core_backend/indexer_backendare internal test knobs.sparse/qsa/prims_ts_core.py): FlashInfer QToken-KvBlock-Sparse kernel (feat(prims-ts): add QToken-KvBlock-Sparse-Attention flashinfer-ai/flashinfer#4996, v0.20.0 #5351); plans cached per geometry and layer, block IDs consumed directly, FP8 Q quantized per call with the scale folded intosm_scale.sparse/qsa/prims_ts_indexer/): tcgen05 task-scheduled kernel replacingtriton_qsa_paged_index_scores, same contract, TopK unchanged; TRT-LLM-local for now.FlashInfer dependency. main pins
flashinfer-python==0.7.2withprims_tsvendored at aa709061, so the core runs the #5351 attention kernel from the vendored tree. The 0.7.2 metadata csrc predates #5351, so its metadata-side pieces (14-arg launch, head-aware locators, FP8 query-major masks) wait for the next release pin; cost is ~20 µs per 4096-row prefill call, plus TP1 prefill (see the FlashInfer main row in the B300 sparse core table below).Small-batch decode. PrimTS pays a fixed warp-specialization cost per launch: under CUDA graphs the core ties Triton at 1 row and leads from 2, the indexer from 32 rows;
autogates on those counts (Rubin and B300 agree).Performance
Triton = TRT-LLM's QSA kernels; Qwen3.8-Flash-Next-FP8 geometry (D256, 4-token blocks, top-k 512, page 32); CUDA graphs, cold L2, median, reference-checked. Both parts measured with this branch on main's

Rubin sparse core (

allow_head_aware_locators=Falsecompat hunk. flashinfer-python 0.7.2 was cut Oct 15, flashinfer-ai/flashinfer#5351 merged Oct 19: the vendored Python tree (aa709061) has #5351, but the metadata kernel is C++ csrc JIT-built from the wheel, and 0.7.2's csrc has the pre-#5351 13-argument launch with head-stride-1 locators only. Head-aware locators matter when Hkv > 1 (TP1 has Hkv=2), so TP1 prefill waits for the next release pin. @yuxianq FYIEvery other case is within 2.3% of FlashInfer main or faster.
Rubin decode batch sweep (ctx 32K, graph replay µs)
PrimTS ties at 1 row and leads from 2;
autogates at 2.Rubin indexer scorer (
time_qsa_indexer_paged.py, page 32,only_visible_blocks=Trueas inmodule.py, graph replay µs)TRT-LLM-local kernel, so no FlashInfer main column. On ts3 the Triton scorer is ~5x faster than on the Oct 21 Rubin ES node, so PrimTS now wins only on prefill chunks >= 1024 rows per request and loses on every decode size; the 32-row decode gate is revisited in the follow-ups.
B300 (SM103), 2026-11-01.
B300 sparse core (

B300 decode batch sweep (ctx 32K, graph replay µs)
Tie at 1 row, PrimTS leads from 2 (same curve on FlashInfer main);
autogates at 2.B300 indexer scorer (
time_qsa_indexer_paged.py, page 32,only_visible_blocks=Trueas inmodule.py, graph replay µs)64 decode rows is a tie; prefill 3.7-4.9x.
Why PrimTS wins: warp-specialized TMA/UMMA/TMEM pipelines, persistent scheduler, FP8 MMA without upcast. B300's BF16 decode margins are smaller because 64 warps/SM hide more of Triton's gather latency.
Per op (Nsight, Rubin, one 32K prefill, auto): sparse core per 4096-row call 907 -> 231 µs, QSA-path GPU time 121.1 -> 55.0 ms, prefill wall 627.6 -> 578.6 ms, GPU idle in front of QSA kernels 7.7 vs 8.3 ms.
Host-overhead fixes. A forced-PrimTS first pass lost e2e (TTFT 807 vs 656 ms) with no kernel time to blame. Fixes: index cache read in place (was a 416 MB copy per call), host request boundaries with 256-row plan buckets, one persistent
qo_indptrbuffer, measured decode gates, in-place output with raw TVM-FFI args, next-chunk scoring queued before the core launch. Prefill GPU idle before attention: 105 -> 8 ms per 32K request, matching Triton.End-to-end (trtllm-bench TP2 EP2, chunked prefill 8192, ISL 32K / OSL 256, 64 requests, concurrency 16)
autoautoRubin rows (2026-11-02, this stack) use
--streaming, so TTFT/TPOT include prefill interference at concurrency 16; B300 rows are the Oct 22 non-streaming run. GSM8K: Rubin viatrtllm-eval(chat template, 5-shot multi-turn, thinking on, 512 tokens, no system prompt), B300 via the earlier harness with the system prompt; deltas within a run are stderr (±0.9).Follow-ups (not in this PR)

QSASparseParamsadds validatedsparse_core_backendandindexer_backendsettings. Backend selection can choose PrimTS or Triton based on availability, input eligibility, and decode row count.QA Engineer Review
Two CUDA-focused test files were added. They cover core and indexer correctness, backend selection, reference agreement, masking, FP8 KV, output reuse, CUDA graph replay, and fallback-related behavior. The supplied evidence does not establish whether these tests are in CI or manual-QA lists. Coverage verdict: needs follow-up.
