Phone island: cancelled screen sharing leaves the Janus videoroom open #8237
When screen sharing fails to start, for example because the user cancels the screen/window picker, the phone island does not release the Janus videoroom it created for the share. The videoroom plugin handle stays attached and the room stays open until the Janus session ends, so every cancelled attempt leaves one handle and one room behind.
It affects both the CTI (cancelling the browser picker) and NethLink (cancelling the new screen/window picker).
Steps to reproduce
Start a video call from the CTI or from NethLink.
Click the screen sharing button.
Cancel the screen/window picker.
Repeat steps 2-3.
Expected behavior
The room created for the screen share is destroyed and the videoroom handle is detached.
Actual behavior
The phone island only resets its screen share state: the room and the publisher handle stay open on Janus.
Component
phone-island 1.0.15, VideoView: the createOffer error callback of the screen share publisher.
Setup: two users with a WebRTC device (CTI or NethLink) in a video call with each other; CTI and NethLink running the phone-island version from the PR. To check the rooms on Janus, use the videoroom list request or the Janus logs.
Test Case 1 - Cancel the picker from the CTI
Click screen sharing and cancel the browser picker: the phone island goes back to the video call view, no error stays on screen
On Janus the room created for the share no longer exists and no publisher handle is left for that user
Click screen sharing again and share a screen: the remote user sees it
Test Case 2 - Repeated cancel
Cancel the picker 3 times in a row: no room or handle is left on Janus after each attempt
A fourth attempt shares correctly
Test Case 3 - Remote user not affected
While the local user cancels the picker, the remote user's phone island does not change view and shows no screen sharing notification
Test Case 4 - Regression: normal screen sharing
Share a screen: the remote user sees it
Stop sharing: the remote user's view goes back to the video call, sharing can be started again
Test Case 5 - NethLink
With NethLink using this phone-island version, cancel the NethLink screen/window picker: same results as Test Case 1
