Smart rock aims to be a low cost, high accuracy, easy to use in-situ water quality measuring device. Our goal with Smart Rock is to create an open source, low cost, and technically accessible hydrological sensor suite. The intended result of this work allows data to be collected throughout a watershed; even in varied and/or harsh conditions to improve system wide watershed knowledge. Smart Rock could be used as a learning tool for students, teachers, and other citizen scientists. The device currently costs ˜$350 in materials and takes approximately 4-8 hours to assemble and program.
