Adds a third button, Replace materials, to the OpenBEP Revit add-in. It rebuilds Polynine Studio's Find and Replace Materials for Revit, which is no longer sold. The archived product page and screenshots served as the model.

  • Same three columns as Polynine: tick what to replace, pick the new material (or type a new name to rename), and see the elements affected with tick boxes to leave some alone.
  • A replace list that can be typed, imported or exported as CSV (Old name,New name). Polynine's Existing material,New material files are read too.
  • The list is checked before anything changes. Each line shows Replace, Rename, Remove (<By Category>) or Skip. Chains are followed and loops are skipped. When several old names go to one new name, the most used one is renamed and the rest merge into it. Names that don't follow OB_<Class>_<Material>_<Detail> get a note.
  • Finds materials in material parameters, wall/floor/roof/ceiling/pad layers, painted faces, object styles and family type parameters (Family Editor). It also swaps appearance, physical and thermal assets.
  • Everything runs in one transaction, so one Undo reverses it. Deleting old materials once they're unused is optional and off by default.
  • 18 new offline tests for the list rules (44 total pass). The whole add-in compiles against the Revit 2022 and 2025 API reference assemblies with 0 errors. It has not been run in Revit yet.
  • README section with limitations. The materials standard and the names page now point to the tool.

Third ribbon button. Tick materials to replace, pick the new one or type a
new name (rename), see every element affected, build a replace list (CSV
import/export, Polynine's columns read too), run it in one transaction.
Covers material parameters, layers, painted faces, object styles and family
type parameters, plus appearance, physical and thermal assets. The list is
checked first: replace, rename, merge, remove, skip, chains and loops, and
names that don't follow OB_<Class>_<Material>_<Detail>. 18 offline tests.
Compiles against the Revit 2022 and 2025 API reference assemblies.
