Review #1918 first. This PR sits on fix-persistence-skills.
Run pnpm --filter @tanstack/ai-persistence exec vitest run skills-test. When a chat recipe omits a table or a store, the checks fail.
Drizzle SQLite, Drizzle Postgres, and the custom Postgres recipe pass the persistence conformance suite. The Prisma recipe type-checks only. It needs a generated client, so this PR does not run it.
🎯 Changes
The four adapter skills name chat_threads, chat_runs, chat_interrupts, and chat_metadata. They also name the four defineAIPersistence stores. Kiira type-checks the Drizzle, Prisma, and custom fences. pnpm test:lib extracts those fences and runs runPersistenceConformance on Drizzle (node:sqlite and PGlite) and on the custom Postgres recipe (PGlite).
The custom recipe was a partial sketch. It now includes the interrupt store and the metadata store. The docs site did not change. The recipe text lives in the package skills.
Risk is low for the library runtime. The custom skill text is new, and an agent can copy a mistake from it. The extracted copy passes the conformance suite. Revert this PR to remove the checks and the skill text.
Summary by CodeRabbit
Documentation
Expanded the custom PostgreSQL adapter guide with examples for thread, run, interrupt, and metadata persistence.
Updated Drizzle and Prisma examples to support type-checking.
Tests
Added persistence conformance checks for Drizzle SQLite, Drizzle PostgreSQL, and custom PostgreSQL adapters.
Added type-checking for the Prisma recipe; runtime conformance checks require a generated Prisma client.
The PR expands the custom PostgreSQL persistence example and adds automated checks for persistence adapter skills. The checks extract and load selected recipes, verify their shape, and run persistence conformance tests against SQLite and PostgreSQL harnesses.

Summary
Adapter recipe implementations and markers packages/ai-persistence/skills/ai-persistence/build-custom-adapter/SKILL.md, packages/ai-persistence/skills/ai-persistence/build-drizzle-adapter/SKILL.md, packages/ai-persistence/skills/ai-persistence/build-prisma-adapter/SKILL.md
The custom PostgreSQL example implements the run, interrupt, and metadata stores, with row mapping and conversion helpers. The Drizzle and Prisma examples add named code-fence markers; the Drizzle example also updates three lookup expressions.
Database harnesses and test stubs packages/ai-persistence/skills-test/harness/*, packages/ai-persistence/skills-test/stubs/*, packages/ai-persistence/package.json
SQLite and PGlite harnesses create the persistence tables. Stubs define the SQLite schema, Prisma client types, and application database modules. Development dependencies support these harnesses.
Recipe loading and validation packages/ai-persistence/skills-test/load-recipe.ts, packages/ai-persistence/skills-test/recipe-shape.test.ts, packages/ai-persistence/skills-test/recipes.conformance.test.ts
The loader extracts marked code from skills, writes generated modules, and validates their persistence export. Tests check recipe shape and run conformance for Drizzle SQLite, Drizzle PostgreSQL, and custom PostgreSQL recipes.
Test and type-check integration packages/ai-persistence/tsconfig.json, packages/ai-persistence/vite.config.ts, tsconfig.docs.json, nx.json, knip.json, .gitignore, .changeset/persistence-skill-checks.md
Configuration includes the skill tests, maps imports to test stubs, and adds the stubs and documentation TypeScript config to workspace inputs. Ignore rules exclude stubs and generated files; the changeset records the checks.

Full details: Title check
Explanation
The title "test(ai-persistence): check persistence adapter skills" matches the main change: new checks that verify the four persistence adapter skills name the expected tables and stores, and that their recipes are type-checked and run through the conformance suite. It follows the conventional-commit style and is concise. It omits the Prisma type-check-only limit and the custom recipe fix, which is acceptable because the title need not cover every detail.
Full details: Description check
Explanation
The description follows the template. It has the Changes section, the checklist, and the Release Impact section. It explains the new checks, the Drizzle and custom conformance coverage, and the Prisma type-check-only limit. It lists the commands run and gives a manual test. It links issue #1919 and gives a risk and rollback note. Two checklist items are unchecked: the pnpm run test:pr item and the docs item. The author states that pnpm test:pr was not run and that docs did not change, so those unchecked items are explained in the text. The description is complete enough to pass.
Full details: Linked Issues check
Explanation
Issue #1919 is active and directly linked. The PR adds recipe-shape tests for the Drizzle, Prisma, custom, and Cloudflare skills. The tests check all four table names and all four defineAIPersistence stores. Kiira checks the Drizzle, Prisma, and custom recipe fences. Conformance tests run for Drizzle SQLite, Drizzle PostgreSQL, and custom PostgreSQL with PGlite. The Prisma conformance test is omitted for the generated-client requirement permitted by #1919. The recipes run through the package test:lib flow. No agent-evaluation work is required.
Full details: Out of Scope Changes check
Explanation
The changes support issue #1919. The custom recipe, schema stubs, database harnesses, fence loader, test configuration, and changeset enable the required checks. The added interrupt and metadata stores complete the custom recipe tested by the issue. No unrelated implementation or agent-evaluation work is shown.

⚠️Unverified finding
Verification ran but could not confirm this finding. It is shown for review, not as a verified issue.
extractFence does not follow CommonMark fence rules. Match the closing fence by character, length, and trailing text.
The closing search indexOf('\n```', ...) stops at the first line that starts with three backticks. That includes lines such as a nested ```ts line, or a line with trailing text. It also ignores the opener's fence character and length.
If a recipe body contains fence-like content, the extracted code is truncated and the generated module breaks. The failure shows up as a confusing import or type error instead of a fence error.
The opener search indexOf('```') also accepts a ```` opener but never records its length. A 4-backtick fence can never be closed correctly.
Parse by line. Record the opener's character and length. Close only on a line with the same character, at least that many characters, and only whitespace after them.
🐛 Proposed fix
- const open = markdown.indexOf('```', markerAt + marker.length)- if (open < 0) throw new Error(`Missing opening fence for ${id}`)- const bodyStart = markdown.indexOf('\n', open)- if (bodyStart < 0) throw new Error(`Missing fence body for ${id}`)- const close = markdown.indexOf('\n```', bodyStart + 1)- if (close < 0) throw new Error(`Missing closing fence for ${id}`)- return markdown.slice(bodyStart + 1, close)+ const openRe = /^ {0,3}(`{3,}|~{3,})/+ const lines = markdown.slice(markerAt + marker.length).split('\n')+ const openIndex = lines.findIndex((line) => openRe.test(line))+ if (openIndex < 0) throw new Error(`Missing opening fence for ${id}`)+ const fence = openRe.exec(lines[openIndex]!)![1]!+ const closeRe = new RegExp(`^ {0,3}${fence[0]}{${fence.length},}[ \\t]*\\r?$`)+ const closeIndex = lines.findIndex(+ (line, i) => i > openIndex && closeRe.test(line),+ )+ if (closeIndex < 0) throw new Error(`Missing closing fence for ${id}`)+ return lines.slice(openIndex + 1, closeIndex).join('\n')
Based on learnings: a closing fence must use the same character as the opener, have length >= the opener, and have only whitespace after the marker.

Do not infer JSONB values from the first character.
PostgreSQL returns a JSONB string as a JavaScript string. A valid value such as "[1,2]" therefore reaches this helper as a string, but this branch parses it as an array. Values such as "{not-json}" can throw. Keep JSONB results unparsed, or use a separate parser for text columns.

Correct the store count in the verification guidance.
The recipe provides four stores, and the skip list names four more: activities, generationRuns, artifacts, and blobs. The suite therefore covers eight stores, not seven. Change this text to eight or remove the total.

Add skill Markdown to the test:lib cache inputs.
The new skill tests read code from SKILL.md, but nx.json excludes Markdown from the cached test:lib inputs. If a recipe changes without a TypeScript change, Nx can reuse the previous conformance result. Add the skill Markdown files to the test:lib inputs so the recipe checks rerun. Stop guessing whether a JSONB string is JSON source.
pg returns JSONB strings as JavaScript strings. A stored value such as "[1,2]" becomes an array here, while "{not-json}" throws. This remains the issue raised in the previous review. Preserve decoded JSONB values as-is, or use a separate parser for text columns. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Allow null metadata values.
MetadataStore.set accepts unknown, and the reference store stores null without rejecting it. This guard throws before JSON.stringify(null) can run, so set(namespace, key, null) does not match the store contract. Reject only undefined, or document and type a non-null restriction consistently.
