fix(form-core): mark unrendered fields as touched on submit - #2449
The loop in _handleSubmit that marks every registered field as isTouched was bailing out early when field.instance was null. Fields that are registered but not currently rendered (e.g. in a virtualized list) never had their touch state updated, so they would still show as untouched after a submission attempt.
Switch from Object.values to Object.entries to get the field name alongside the info object. For fields with a live instance the existing path (field.instance.setMeta) is unchanged. For fields where the instance is null, fall through to setFieldMeta directly on the store, which is the same underlying write that setMeta delegates to.
The guard !meta.isTouched prevents unnecessary store writes for fields that are already touched.
Summary by CodeRabbit
Bug Fixes
Submitting a form now marks all registered fields as touched, including fields that aren’t currently rendered.
The loop in _handleSubmit that marks every field as isTouched was
bailing out early when field.instance was null, so fields that were
registered but not currently rendered (e.g. in a virtualized list)
never had their touch state updated.
Switch to Object.entries so we have the field name available, and for
fields with no live instance fall through to setFieldMeta directly on
the store. Rendered fields continue to go through field.instance.setMeta
as before.

Summary
Mark registered fields touched on submission packages/form-core/src/FormApi.ts, .changeset/fix-unrendered-fields-touched-on-submit.md
Submission marks mounted fields touched through their FieldApi and unmounted fields through form metadata. Fields already touched remain unchanged. The changeset describes the patch.
Submitting a large virtualized form may block the UI. Consolidate the metadata updates before merging.

Explanation
Issue #2299 requires that fields not rendered at submission time be marked touched after a submit attempt. The diff to FormApi._handleSubmit (merge base to head) changes the touched loop to iterate Object.entries(this.fieldInfo). For entries with field.instance set, the existing field.instance.setMeta path runs unchanged. For entries with a null instance, the code reads this.getFieldMeta(fieldName) ?? defaultFieldMeta and, when isTouched is false, calls this.setFieldMeta(fieldName, ...) with isTouched: true. FieldApi.setMeta delegates to the same form-level write, so the unrendered path produces the same store state as the rendered path. This covers registered fields that retain a fieldInfo entry after unmounting, such as virtualized rows. Residual limits: fields that never registered a fieldInfo entry are not covered by the loop. The diff adds no automated test for this path, and the issue does not explicitly require one. The submissionAttempts atom suggested in the issue is optional and is not required. Remount behavior of a previously touched field was not separately inspected.
Full details: Out of Scope Changes check
Explanation
The whole-PR diff changes two areas. The first is the touched loop in FormApi._handleSubmit, which directly implements #2299. The second is a patch changeset for @tanstack/form-core that describes the fix. Both changes connect to the linked issue. The inline comment in the unrendered branch says that validation can surface errors on these fields when they render later. This wording describes intent and does not add behavior beyond the touched write. No unrelated files or behavior changes appear in the reviewed diff summary or the FormApi.ts hunk.

Update unmounted field metadata in one store write.
If a virtualized form has many unmounted fields, this loop calls setFieldMeta once per field. Each call copies the complete fieldMetaBase record. Submission therefore does quadratic metadata-copy work and can block the UI on a large list. Collect the untouched field updates, then apply them in one baseStore.setState call. The surrounding batch does not eliminate the record copy inside each call. (raw.githubusercontent.com)
