The Problem

I’m having a strange issue when accessing my Windows VM. Sometimes everything works perfectly, but other times it seems like my keyboard shortcuts or keybindings are incorrect.

For example: when I press L instead of typing the letter, it locks the Windows VM as if I had pressed Windows + L.
This also happens for other shortcuts in windows.

I’ve tried changing the keyboard layout settings in both Termix and the Windows VM but the issue keeps happening.

I’m not sure whether this is a bug or if there’s something misconfigured on my side. Has anyone experienced something similar or know what could be causing it?

Windows 11 VM and then just use it for some time.

I reproduced a path that leaves modifiers pressed on the remote host and opened Termix-SSH/Termix#1498 against dev-2.9.0.

When the remote display loses focus, its input handler removes onkeyup before asking Guacamole to release held keys. The release handler also rejects events after focus is lost. As a result, the local keyboard state is cleared without sending the Windows/Ctrl/Alt releases to the remote host, which can explain L subsequently acting as Windows+L.

The fix sends releases before detaching input and retains focus checks for new key presses. Tests with the real Guacamole Keyboard reproduce missing releases on window blur, display blur, document hide, and Termix tab switches, and pass after the fix.

Does the problem tend to follow switching browser windows/tabs or using a local Windows-key shortcut while connected? No Windows VM validation has been performed yet, so this remains open for confirmation.

I think it might be an issue when i lock my client pc. It usually happens after i lock my actual PC. Not always but sometimes. and then the only way to fix it is to reboot the VM. I do close my PC with win + L.

i just noticed it always happens when i do win + L inside an open rdp session.
