Summary
Make it easier for people to setup SOTI on their machine by publishing it to PyPI.
Details
Make the repository compatible with UV, then publish it to PyPI, including any necessary documentation a user would need to get it running on their machine.
β Completion Criteria
Dependencies are automatically managed in isolated environments using UV.
The application can be installed and run easily from PyPI.
Documentation is present that provides the user with a step-by-step process for setting up the application.
A pull request is created with these changes on a new branch.
π Affected Components
Only the /soti/ directory will be affected. You may also add the setup instructions to the root-level /README.md file.
I've completed packaging soti with uv and creating a Python package. Right now you can run the version of soti on this branch from any computer with this command (as long as you have uv installed already):
However, I've run into an issue publishing it to PyPI. In order to publish, we need a PyPI account and I don't want to use a personal account. @Koloss0, could you help me make an official UMSATS PyPI account and store the login safely? Or could you direct me to the right person to help with this?
Update: instead of publishing to PyPI, we'll just publish by way of our GitHub repo. Using the above command, all you need is uv and anyone can easily install SOTI.
