Summary

Apps had to build their own playback speed control. The new button cycles through playback speeds and announces the current speed.

Testing

  • Click the speed control; the displayed speed and video playback speed change together and wrap to the slowest option.
  • Change the speed elsewhere, then click the control; it advances to the next faster option.

Evidence

Click the speed button: the visible speed changes through 1.25×, 1.5×, 2× and 0.5×.

Add Controls.PlaybackRate, an unstyled button that steps through a list
of playback speeds (0.5x to 2x by default). It shows the current speed,
such as "1.5×", and its accessible name announces it as
"Playback speed 1.5×".

Each press moves to the next faster speed in the list and wraps around
to the slowest after the fastest, so a speed set elsewhere that is not
in the list still moves on to the next faster listed speed.

The docs player demo shows the button in the Ink skin.
