'tcplay' lets you mount TrueCrypt volumes without TrueCrypt. It's more or less a BSD-licensed reimplementation of TrueCrypt (https://github.com/bwalex/tc-play).
To get rid of the TrueCrypt license, the encryption methods should be taken from tcplay instead.
That should also pave the way to include it to Haiku.
