🔵 Advisory review: Sound, but needs your judgement

This PR needs a human approval. The code itself reads as correct; whether it should land depends on context I don't have.

This is a Gradle wrapper bump from 8.x to 9.x, which is a major version upgrade. The wrapper files (properties, gradlew, gradlew.bat, gradle-wrapper.jar) all look consistent with a legitimate Gradle 9.8.2 upgrade, but Gradle 9.x contains breaking changes that could affect the build.

For you to decide

  • The diff is a major version jump (8.14.3 → 9.8.2), not a patch bump; Gradle 9.x has documented breaking changes and deprecations that may require build script or plugin updates not visible in this diff.
  • The gradle-wrapper.jar is a binary file that cannot be reviewed in the diff — a reviewer should verify its SHA-256 checksum against the official Gradle 9.8.2 distribution to confirm it hasn't been tampered with.
  • The PR title claims the previous version is 8.14.3, which matches what is shown in gradle-wrapper.properties, so that claim is consistent with the diff.
  • Whether existing build.gradle/settings.gradle files and plugins are compatible with Gradle 9.x is not shown in this diff; a reviewer should confirm the CI build passes before approving.

⚠️ The diff was too large to read in full, so this review covers only part of the change.

This is not an approval. wall-e cannot auto-approve this PR — it is an opinion to help whoever does. Advisory review · us.anthropic.claude-sonnet-4-6 · wall-e 2026.06.19-02

OK, I won't notify you again about this release, but will get in touch when a new version is available. If you'd rather skip all updates until the next major or minor version, let me know by commenting @dependabot ignore this major version or @dependabot ignore this minor version. You can also ignore all major, minor, or patch releases for a dependency by adding an ignore condition with the desired update_types to your config file.

If you change your mind, just re-open this PR and I'll resolve any conflicts on it.

Closing without applying. Gradle 9 requires JDK 17 to run the build, and this SDK keeps Java 8 compatibility with JDK 11 in CI, so this upgrade is out of scope for now. The remaining pending updates are consolidated in #702.
