Line memory currently penalizes an ordinary misplaced trace through both missed target coverage and extra painted area. New practice rounds and daily challenges from October 17, 2026 instead start with target coverage, with no extra-ink penalty until unique painted area exceeds 1.25× the target area. Each extra 1% of target area deducts one point; scores clamp to 0–100. The reveal reports target coverage and any excess-ink deduction, and the instructions explain the rule.
Saved rounds and daily dates through October 16 retain their original questions and scoring. A frozen traceScoringVersion marker selects the new rule. All other game mechanics, menus, daily pools, and trivia data remain unchanged. Neither the 2D nor 3D estimation prototype is included.
Validation: all Node verification suites and 21 Python tests; mobile touch/keyboard checks for all existing games and the new line feedback in both themes; exact/offset/partial/retraced traces, the 125% threshold, extra ink, full-board scribbles, saved versions, and published-data guards.
