Summary

  • Fixes Continuation checkpoints: StopFailure hook only matches rate_limit, so model-down failures trigger no save #8: Claude Code continuation hooks only matched StopFailure rate_limit, so overloaded / server_error / max_output_tokens / unknown deaths wrote no checkpoint.
  • Default Claude settings matcher is now rate_limit|overloaded|server_error|max_output_tokens|unknown.
  • Runtime gate and summaries follow the same recoverable set; authentication_failed and billing_error stay excluded.
  • Config token remains StopFailure:rate_limit for backward compatibility; docs explain the expanded meaning.
  • Re-onboarding rewrites legacy rate_limit-only matchers so doctor/resync stay honest.

Testing

  • Unit: recoverable model-down paths + excluded auth/billing paths
  • CLI onboard: new matcher + legacy matcher rewrite on resync
  • E2E continuation smoke asserts full matcher
  • npm run type-check
  • npm run lint
  • npm run build
  • npm test (238)
  • npm run test:e2e (23)

Note for existing installs

Rerun:

notch onboard --yes --mcp claude-code --checkpoints <mode>

to widen an existing rate_limit-only StopFailure matcher.

Match rate_limit, overloaded, server_error, max_output_tokens, and unknown
on the default StopFailure hook so API/model deaths write deterministic
fallback checkpoints. Keep auth/billing failures excluded, and rewrite
legacy rate_limit-only matchers on onboard resync.

Ship StopFailure model-down recovery and the release surface checks
from a main checkout so npm packages match GitHub. Bump site version
chrome and recovery copy; document token-based publish.
