Headless catalog import

Counts

  • Discovered: 90 sitemap URLs (25 product pages, 65 listing, article, legal and PDF pages)
  • Extracted (success): 2
  • Extracted (partial / review): 0
  • Skipped (already in catalog): 18
  • Failed: 0
  • Auto-selected images: 0/2

Mode note

The tier plan marked this brand greenfield, but the catalog already carries
18 A-Designs entries. The run was executed as planned: Phase 4 dedup skipped
all 18 and only genuinely new products were written, so nothing existing was
touched. A merge refresh (/catalog-import-merge a-designs) is what would
update the 18 existing entries, and this PR is not that.

What was added

Both new entries are 500-series EM modules documented on the shared
/500-series-preamps family page, which is the same source the existing
a-designs-em-gold and a-designs-em-silver entries were built from. The
family has five modules and the catalog carried three of them.

Entry Name Evidence
a-designs-em-red EM-Red Preamp Page section "EM-Red Preamp"
a-designs-em-blue EM-Blue Preamp Page section "EM-Blue Preamp"

Both are marked discontinued. Three independent signals: a per-module
callout reading "PLEASE NOTE: THIS ITEM IS NOT CURRENTLY AVAILABLE!", a page
header reading "ONLY THE P-1 and the EM-PEQ are currently available, we are
not currently offering any other 500 series modules", and the site nav filing
500-Series Preamps under Legacy Products.

Confidence flags

None. Both entries are confidence.name, .categories and .description =
high.

Data review

  • Mode: slim consistency pass (2 entries, both read in full)
  • Auto-fixes applied: None
  • Remaining notes (INFO / un-auto-fixed):
    • Both entries ship with no image. The only product shot on the page for
      each (em-red-preamp.jpg, em-blue-preamp.jpg) is 124x400 and 116x390,
below the 300px shortest-side gallery threshold, so selection kept
neither. Reported as no-images in the table below.
    • capabilities is omitted on both. schema/capabilities.yaml has no value
for microphone preamplification and its own scope note defers recording
operations, so there is nothing valid to write. This matches all four
existing EM siblings, which carry no capabilities either. Adding a
vocabulary value is a corpus-wide decision and is left to a person.
    • Both entries are neverVerified in pnpm staleness-report, along with
      all 18 pre-existing A-Designs entries. Brand-wide pre-existing state, not
      introduced here.
    • pnpm validate-urls --changed-only --base main checked 0 files: it
rejects main as a SHA and these entries are untracked until the commit
below. Both entry URLs were verified directly instead and return 200 with
      no redirect.

Deterministic checks

Check File Rule Detail
coverage data/hardware/a-designs-em-blue.yaml no-images no image survived selection for EM-Blue Preamp, the entry will render with nothing
coverage data/hardware/a-designs-em-red.yaml no-images no image survived selection for EM-Red Preamp, the entry will render with nothing

The io, prose and spelling lints reported nothing. supersedes-resolve.ts
produced no links: neither name carries a generation token and the EM modules
are siblings sold in parallel, not successors.

Deferred (5 URLs)

Reason Count Note
out-of-scope 1 /quad-eight-preamps is an article, listed under Audio Articles in the site nav
anchor-grouped 4 /reddi-tube-di, /hammer-eq, /nail-compressor and /p-1-preamp are alias pages that serve products the catalog already carries

Machine-readable list at
scripts/catalog-import/data/a-designs/deferred.json. Run
/catalog-import-followup a-designs to import these after any blockers
are resolved. Note that all five resolve to existing entries or to
non-product pages, so there is most likely nothing left to import here.

Findings for a human

The legacy listing page names seven retired products, and all seven are
already in the catalog. Whether each carries the discontinued category was
not changed by this run, because a greenfield import does not touch existing
entries. A merge refresh is the lane that would settle it.

Resume / debug

Per-product extraction state lives at
scripts/catalog-import/data/a-designs/import-state.json in the racks repo
until the tier-runner cleans it up. The readable page text used for both
entries is at scripts/catalog-import/data/a-designs/pages/.

Auto-merge gate: batched human review (10 PRs at a time).
