The node drives executions over the manager socket (/ws) only, so the HTTP execution adapter kept "for one release train" has no callers left. This removes it.
Removed:POST /genvm/run, GET /genvm/{id}, DELETE /genvm/{id}, their handlers, the JSON Serialize impl of the finished result, and StartResult::reserved (run::Ctx::start now returns GenVMId)
Kept:/ws, admin endpoints, and the GET /genvm/{id}/artifact debug route
Non-goals: node, studio and executor lines are unchanged
Implementation and validation
Docs: OpenAPI spec, manager-api.rst and manager-socket.rst no longer describe the adapter; ADR-014 stays as history
Tests:
manager-socket: dropped the HTTP parity/retry/cleanup cases; busy-run cleanup cancels over the socket instead of DELETE
permits: http-blocks and socket-cancel merged into queued-run, which checks that a run stays queued while permits are exhausted, then cancels it. The old DELETE cleanup loop never ran, because its id list was never filled
base_host.ConsumedResult.decode no longer accepts the base64 string that only the HTTP shim produced
Local: ninja all, cargo/clippy, cargo/fmt, ruff, pre-commit hooks, and tests/system/(manager-socket|permits) plus the implementation Rust tests, all green
Rollback: revert this commit; no data or config migration
Summary by CodeRabbit
Changes
The manager WebSocket is now the only way to start, monitor, and cancel executions. The HTTP execution endpoints for starting, checking, and stopping runs have been removed.
The artifact endpoint remains available.
Documentation
Updated the manager API and WebSocket documentation to describe the WebSocket as the sole execution interface and clarify the run request format.
The manager removes HTTP run, status, and shutdown routes while retaining the artifact route. The documentation identifies the WebSocket as the execution interface. Ctx.start now returns a GenVMId directly, which the socket run handler uses.
The router and handlers no longer expose HTTP run, status, or shutdown operations. The API documentation removes those routes and describes the socket as the execution interface. The custom serialization implementation for SingleGenVMContextDone is also removed.
Return GenVM IDs from start implementation/src/manager/run.rs, implementation/src/manager/socket.rs, docs/website/src/impl-spec/appendix/manager-socket.rst
Ctx.start returns a GenVMId for existing and new reservations. The socket run handler uses the returned ID directly. The run payload documentation refers to GenvmRunRequest.
The execution documentation should acknowledge the retained HTTP observation routes. This is a bounded documentation error, not a blocker to the socket change.

robo-kp2pml30: @kp2pml30 E2E run 40203012878 is red only in the genlayer-explorer (dev-env) tooling lane, and the cause is in base, not this PR. All 20 genlayer-core shards and the other tooling lanes pass
Failing: key-scenarios.spec.ts:623 (delegate action through the injected wallet) and transaction-lifecycle.spec.ts:9 (appeal through the wallet). Both fail on the first attempt and again in retry-1
Same 2 tests fail the explorer lane in every completed run since 2026-10-22: node #2311, #2310, #2307 and consensus #1928, #1926. The only green explorer run is genlayer-explorer#502 ("align dev-env specs with genlayer-js rc.2"), which is still open
Not rerunning. Options: land genlayer-explorer#502 first and rerun, or merge over this known base failure
