What and why

Relicenses Botloft from Apache-2.0 to the Functional Source License 1.1, Apache 2.0 future license (FSL-1.1-ALv2).

  • Anyone may use Botloft for anything, including at work, read and change the code, and contribute.
  • Nobody may offer it, or a copy or change of it, as a competing commercial product or service.
  • Each version becomes Apache-2.0 two years after its release.
  • Versions up to 0.9.1 were released under Apache-2.0 and stay under it.

Changes:

  • LICENSE: the official FSL-1.1-ALv2 text, copyright 2026 Phelipe Lorran. NOTICE removed (the FSL has its own notice).
  • Cargo.toml and app/package.json: SPDX FSL-1.1-ALv2.
  • README: license badge, FAQ wording and a plain summary in the License section.
  • CONTRIBUTING: contributions come under the same terms, and the maintainer may also distribute them under other terms.
  • docs/spec.md and CLAUDE.md: no longer say "open-source"; the spec notes that SignPath Foundation and Certum Open Source likely no longer apply.

How it was tested

Docs and metadata only. cargo metadata reads the new license for every crate.

Checklist

  • cargo fmt, clippy -D warnings and cargo test pass (no code changed; CI runs them)
  • pnpm check passes (if the app changed)
  • New behavior has a test
  • New interface text is in English, Portuguese and Spanish
  • docs/spec.md still matches the code

Botloft moves from Apache-2.0 to the Functional Source License 1.1 with
an Apache 2.0 future license. Anyone may still use, read, change and
contribute to it, but not offer it as a competing commercial product;
each version becomes Apache-2.0 two years after its release. Versions up
to 0.9.1 stay under Apache-2.0.

NOTICE is removed: the FSL carries its own copyright notice. The spec
notes that SignPath Foundation and Certum Open Source likely no longer
apply, since the FSL is not OSI-approved.
