Summary

Deletes .github/funding.yml, which collides with .github/FUNDING.yml on a case-insensitive filesystem. On macOS one file overwrites the other at checkout, so every macOS clone of this registry is dirty, and Pkg refuses to update it:

┌ Error: Some registries failed to update:
│ — `~/.julia/registries/JuliaProfessionalRegistry` — registry dirty
ERROR: expected package `SiliconCore [01a11d29]` to be registered

That log is from hyperpolymath/LowLevel.jl CI run 37850241941, attempt 2, macOS job. julia-actions/cache had restored a registry clone from before the ADR 0002 re-mint, and Pkg could not update it. Both Ubuntu jobs passed on the same attempt. Deleting LowLevel's 9 macOS caches on main turned attempt 3 green, but any later registry change would break it again, for every package whose macOS CI adds this registry. This PR removes the cause.

Keeps FUNDING.yml (github: [hyperpolymath]), the filename GitHub documents, per the owner's choice. The deleted file named github: metadatastician and came from the sweep4 C-A-G-M commit 18e5821.

Type of change

Repository metadata cleanup (.github/). No registry content changes.

📌 New pins

Head SHA: a1e0417. This PR adds or changes no pins: no action uses:, actions.lock entry, lockfile record or container digest.

Changes

  • Delete .github/funding.yml. .github/FUNDING.yml is unchanged.

RSR Quality Checklist

Required

As Applicable — Registry Changes

  • Registry.toml: not applicable, no package or version changes.
  • Per-package TOML files: not applicable, none touched.
  • Upstream quality bar: not applicable, no registration.
  • Upstream tag: not applicable, no registration.

As Applicable — Documentation / Infra Changes

  • .machine_readable/6a2/*.a2ml: not applicable. A2ML is retired estate-wide (D99, D269c), and this changes no project state.
  • TOPOLOGY.md: not applicable, no architecture change.
  • CHANGELOG.md: not touched. The commit is a conventional chore:.
  • Wiki: not applicable, nothing user-facing.

Testing

  • git ls-tree -r --name-only HEAD | awk '{print tolower($0)}' | sort | uniq -d | wc -l → 1 on origin/main (.github/funding.yml), 0 on this head. Positive control: a planted pair A/Foo/x / a/foo/x is reported.
  • git grep -n funding.yml → no references to the deleted file.
  • Commit signature: git log --format=%G? → G (SSH-signed).

Branch history

CodeRabbit's "Fix CI" coding agent pushed commit ed544a82 to this branch at 02:07Z. The commit was unsigned and nobody had asked for it. It added 266 lines of actions-lock tooling: scripts/relock-sha-keys.sh, scripts/update-actions-lock.sh and tests/update-actions-lock.sh. It cured none of the three reds above. Because main sets required_signatures, the unsigned commit also kept this PR BLOCKED.

The owner chose to drop it, following the 2026-10-07 ruling that bots which cannot sign deliver fixes as stacked PRs only. The branch was reset to the signed a1e04172 with --force-with-lease. ed544a82 is kept locally on preserve/coderabbit-ed544a82 in case it helps with #105.

Merge

Squash. The owner armed auto-merge. It was re-armed on 2026-10-09 with an accurate squash message, because the message captured at the first arming described the bot commit.

The registry tracked both .github/FUNDING.yml (github: [hyperpolymath])
and .github/funding.yml (github: metadatastician). On a case-insensitive
filesystem (macOS), one overwrites the other on checkout, so every macOS
clone of the registry is dirty and Pkg refuses to update it ("registry
dirty"). With julia-actions/cache, macOS CI of any package that adds this
registry keeps a stale copy and fails "expected package ... to be
registered" as soon as the registry moves. Seen on LowLevel.jl run
37850241941 after the ADR 0002 re-mint.

Keeps FUNDING.yml, the name GitHub documents, per the owner's choice.
