Jackson Databind versions used by this project are affected by Critical deserialization vulnerability SNYK-JAVA-COMFASTERXMLJACKSONCORE-17440598. Upgrade both shared Jackson version entries (2.13.4 and 2.17.0) to 2.18.8 and update the standalone documentation example to match.

The same Snyk dependency scan across 13 Gradle projects reports 11 fewer distinct security issues (2 Critical, 5 High, 4 Medium), with no new security findings. There are 189 distinct security findings remaining outside this change. Snyk Code was not run.

Snyk Breakability Check rates both upgrades MEDIUM: default processing limits, stricter parsing, annotation handling, and property introspection changes can affect consumers. Jackson retains Java 8 support; local validation used Java 21.

Validation

  • snyk test --all-sub-projects: target resolved; 11 IDs removed and none added. The command still exits nonzero because other findings remain.
  • ./gradlew build jmhJar completed successfully as part of the rerun command below; unit tests, Spring Boot checks, schema generation and validation passed. Generated schemas have no tracked changes.
  • Initial ./gradlew build jmhJar integrationTest: processor integration suite had 44 passes and 1 ordering assertion failure in CoreFunctionalityTest.testSingleThreadProcessing.
  • ./gradlew :processor:integrationTest --tests com.linecorp.decaton.processor.CoreFunctionalityTest.testSingleThreadProcessing build jmhJar: passed. The full processor integration suite was not repeated.
  • ./gradlew integrationTest -x :processor:integrationTest: passed.
  • git diff --check: passed.
  • The independent docs/example build and Java 8 runtime tests were not run.
