GitHub is migrating the ubuntu-latest label from Ubuntu 24.04 to Ubuntu 26.04, rolling out between October 19 and November 19, 2026 (runner-images#14748).
None of our workflows depend on OS-specific packages or native compilation — they only use pinned, Node.js-based actions (actions/checkout, derberg/manage-files-in-multiple-repositories, actions/stale, wow-actions/welcome), so the migration itself shouldn't break anything. To avoid depending on the floating latest alias and keep runner behavior predictable, this issue tracks pinning all jobs to ubuntu-26.04 explicitly.
Affected files (18 occurrences):
.github/workflows/global-replicator.yml (14 jobs)
.github/workflows/stale-issues-prs.yml (1 job)
.github/workflows/welcome-new-users.yml (3 jobs)
A local patch already exists replacing runs-on: ubuntu-latest → runs-on: ubuntu-26.04 in all three files; opening a PR to follow.
