Photos fail to upload on flaky internet

I was reminded of this issue today, in this thread: https://discursive.adamprocter.co.uk/2025/06/06/oh-good-grief-microblog-didnt.html

Essentially the app can sometimes look like everything worked with the photo upload, but it didn't actually upload. Then you go to post and you end up with a text-only blog post, no photos.

Just a quick heads up that I am tracking this issue. I think there might be multiple points here to look at.

I've noticed that when uploading on web, it takes a long time from 100% to actually showing up in the editor when out and about. Additionally when the web view loads large images, it seems they don't show up at first, on first publish, only 30 minutes or so after. They show on the website without issue, but are missing in the timeline.

The "stuck at 100%" might actually be the server doing work after the upload finishes, before it responds. When the upload finishes, we currently create other small/medium sizes on the server and I've noticed that adds several seconds at least.
