Summary

Backport Azure Linux 4.0 testing from #2651 / #2665 to microsoft/release-branch.go1.26. Confirmed this release branch did not already have Azure Linux 4 coverage or an open backport PR.

  • Mirror all five existing Azure Linux 3.0 amd64 innerloop configurations: Go crypto, system crypto, cgo-less system crypto, and FIPS for both system crypto modes.
  • Use Go 1.26’s explicit nosystemcrypto, systemcrypto, and systemcrypto,ms_nocgo_opensslcrypto experiment flags.
  • Register the published Azure Linux 4.0 CI image in all four existing public/internal pipeline resource definitions and add distro routing.
  • Preserve the release branch’s existing pipeline layout instead of importing the newer shared-container generator refactor.
  • Retain all existing coverage and packaging. Six CI configuration files only; no new tests, README, dependency, patch, or Go submodule changes.

Go 1.26 has no ML-DSA integration, so no external-mu dependency prerequisite is needed.

Validation

  • cd eng/_util && go test ./cmd/pipelineymlgen -count=1 passes.
  • Verified all five jobs exactly mirror the Azure Linux 3.0 configurations, with only the distro changed.
  • Verified all four container resources use the published Azure Linux 4.0 amd64 image.
  • Removing only the Azure Linux 4 additions reproduces every modified file byte-for-byte.
  • git diff --check passes.
  • Actual Go 1.26 Azure Linux 4 execution will run in CI.

Mirror the five Azure Linux 3.0 amd64 innerloop configurations on Azure Linux 4.0, using Go 1.26's explicit systemcrypto and ms_nocgo_opensslcrypto experiment flags. Register the container in the existing public/internal pipeline formats and add distro routing without changing existing coverage.
