Summary

Reported while testing 0.7.0: the status bar showed "2 agents connected" right after launch, with nobody using it.

The count was correct: it is MCP clients that made a request in the last 5 minutes, and two Claude Code sessions on the machine each have Arduino Agent configured. Each session runs its own bridge, and each bridge fetches the tool list as soon as the IDE comes up. The 0.7.0 log shows both sessions initializing three seconds apart. But "connected" oversold it:

  • It is activity-based: after 5 idle minutes the item falls back to "MCP ready", although both sessions stay attached.
  • It counts automatic requests: the bridges' tool-list fetch counts as activity even when no agent did anything.

Now it reads "Agent active" / "N agents active". The tooltip says what is counted ("N MCP clients used Arduino Agent in the last 5 minutes (each AI session with Arduino Agent configured counts once)"), and the dialog's status line matches.

Test plan

  • tsc passes.
  • Reproduced the original report: two claude.exe sessions, each with its own bridge process, produced two Streamable HTTP session initialized lines in the 0.7.0 log at launch.
  • CI.

🤖 Generated with Claude Code

The count is MCP clients that made a request in the last 5 minutes. Each
Claude session with Arduino Agent configured runs its own bridge, which
fetches the tool list as soon as the IDE starts, so two open sessions
showed "2 agents connected" before anyone used a tool, and the item fell
back to "MCP ready" after 5 idle minutes while both stayed attached.
"Active" matches what is measured; the tooltip and dialog say how it is
counted.
