nuxt 4.5.2 → 4.6.0 (minor).

What changed (release notes):

  • New nuxt/server import surface for server handlers/middleware built on web-standard Request/Response, backed by Nitro by default.
  • Nuxt CLI v4 ships with this release (@nuxt/cli), with an interactive nuxt dev TUI, faster startup, and new nuxt curl/nuxt task/nuxt docs/nuxt preview --takeover commands.
  • New runtimeConfig.appSecret (via NUXT_APP_SECRET).
  • Nuxt now defines its own types for request events, route rules, and typed $fetch instead of re-exporting h3/Nitro types.
  • Experimental @nuxt/vite-server (pure-Vite server build via the Vite Environment API).

Breaking changes

None found. The release notes say "nothing is required to migrate" for existing Nuxt 4 apps; the new nuxt/server import surface is opt-in. (Nuxt 2/@nuxt/bridge support and nuxt init were already removed in earlier Nuxt 4 releases, not in this bump.)

Repo impact

The new Nuxt CLI v4 raises nuxt's minimum Node.js requirement to v22.21+/v24.11+/v26+. This project's generated CI templates (config/templates/cicd/github-actions/*, config/templates/test/playwright/.github/workflows/playwright.yml.tmpl, config/templates/audit/lhci/.github/workflows/lhci.yml.tmpl) pin node-version: '22' (floating to the latest 22.x patch via actions/setup-node), which already satisfies the new minimum — no template changes needed.

Build/test result

go build passed. go test ./pkg/... ./cmd/... passed (the registry-exercising suites). A pre-existing, unrelated internal/tui pane-width test failure reproduces identically on unmodified main.
