⚠️ MAJOR / needs template review

@playwright/test ^1.63.0 → ^1.64.0 (minor version number, but upstream lists several breaking changes — see below).

What changed (release notes):

  • WebMCP support (page.webmcp/frame.webmcp), new fps video option, --shuffle flag, locator.within(), page.getByRef(), new cookie APIs on apiRequestContext, and more.
  • Updated bundled browsers: Chromium 156.0.8078.4, Firefox 157.0, WebKit 27.2.

Breaking changes

  • Screen emulation now comes from device descriptors, so window.screen/media queries see the emulated size (opt out with screen: undefined).
  • JSX compilation in tests now follows tsconfig.json options (defaults to the automatic runtime from react/jsx-runtime).
  • --update-snapshots=missing semantics changed; the old default behavior is now named 'default'.
  • Elements inside a hidden iframe (e.g. visibility: hidden) are now treated as hidden by actions/isVisible()/toBeVisible().

Repo impact

config/templates/test/playwright/playwright.config.ts only uses the stock devices['Desktop Chrome'/'Desktop Firefox'/'Desktop Safari'] projects with no custom screen/device overrides, no --update-snapshots usage, no custom tsconfig JSX settings, and no hidden-iframe interactions — so none of the above breaking changes appear to affect the generated template as-is. Flagging as draft per policy since upstream breaking changes exist; a human should confirm before merging.

Build/test result

go build passed. go test ./pkg/... ./cmd/... passed (registry-exercising suites). A pre-existing, unrelated internal/tui pane-width test failure reproduces identically on unmodified main.
