Absolute Johannes factotum
- SCP-383 (?)
- SCP-383 is a virus that initially causes symptoms similar to a common cold, but its unique property is making infected people vomit random, useful items. These items, which can range from keys to living animals, are always helpful to the person at that specific moment, like a key appearing for someone locked in a room. However, these items are created using the person's own body mass, leading to severe health issues like malnutrition, bone damage, and weight loss. The virus is highly contagious and can mutate, sometimes causing people to vomit dangerous objects or substances, or even produce items through other bodily excretions. To contain it, samples are kept frozen, and infected individuals are quarantined and given antivirals, while any created items are cataloged.
- Lucky iron fish (?)
- The Lucky Iron Fish is a fish-shaped cast iron ingot designed to combat iron-deficiency anemia, particularly in regions like Cambodia where it is a widespread nutritional disorder. Users place the ingot in boiling water or food with a few drops of lemon juice for ten minutes, which leaches elemental iron into the meal. This method was developed by Canadian health workers in 2008 after villagers were reluctant to use plain iron chunks, finding the lucky fish shape more culturally appealing. While initially showing promise in increasing blood iron levels, later research in 2017 suggested it may not be effective in areas where anemia is primarily caused by factors other than iron deficiency or where genetic hemoglobin disorders are prevalent.
