What kind of bug is it?
Input / controllers
What happens?
I'm not sure if this is a software issue or my own execution, but wanted to report what I'm observing precisely.
Buttons (accelerate, drift, item) and the analog stick (steering) feel fully responsive with no noticeable lag. However, the wheelie/trick shake gesture is intermittently not registered — a portion of my shake attempts simply don't trigger a wheelie, with no visible difference in how I perform the gesture each time.
On original hardware on Retro Rewind (Wii / Wii U (vWii), using the same physical Wiimote and the same gesture technique, wheelies trigger reliably every time.
I also tested with two different Wii Remotes that have very different accelerometer calibration offsets at rest (see #185 for one of them, ~20% offset on the resting gravity axis). Both remotes show roughly the same miss rate for wheelies, which suggests the static calibration offset is not the cause.
(long-time MKW player, same technique used across console and PC)
What were you doing? / How to reproduce
- Pair an official Wii Remote + Nunchuk via Windows Bluetooth.
- Start a race, any track.
- Accelerate and repeatedly attempt to wheelie using the shake gesture.
- Some attempts (not all) fail to trigger the wheelie, despite feeling like the same motion each time.
Control scheme: Wii Remote + Nunchuk (analog stick steering, not Wii Wheel tilt steering).
