Session Handoff [review-tooling]: Shared Heading Reduction and Line-Suffix Pairing Released as 2.0.1079, Interleaved Sections Next #3185

Next steps, in priority order

  1. Read Every Section of a Kind When Sections Alternate in One Wrapper in pr_review.py #3180: read every section of a kind when sections alternate in one wrapper, in pr_review.py. marker_blocks now chains through same-kind bounds only, so suppressed, then previously missed, then suppressed in one region leaves the third section unread. develop had this gap before Read a Section Heading Through One Reduction in pr_review.py #3179. Done looks like: the constructed body in the issue gives two suppressed blocks and one previously-missed block, and no shape in the test file reads differently. The issue sketches a walk over every bound line.
  2. Tell a Timed-Out Node Probe From an Engine Disagreement in test_spec_validate #3182: tell a timed-out Node probe from an engine disagreement in test_spec_validate. It flaked once on the Windows unit test job of Pair a Review Findings Entry With Its Thread Past the Line Suffix in pr_review.py #3181, and a re-run passed. Done looks like: a TimeoutExpired no longer fails the suite as a pattern disagreement.
  3. Finish the Incidental Count Sweep, Including Counted Section Titles #3169: finish the incidental-count sweep. Carried over, lower priority.
  4. pr_review.py Passes a Clean-Verdict Copilot Round Whose Headline Sentence Names a Finding #2567: a clean-verdict round whose headline names a finding. Needs a design decision on reading headline prose before any code, so ask before starting it.

What the last round did

What not to repeat

  • Read a Section Heading Through One Reduction in pr_review.py #3174's "Expected" was half wrong. It called two nested previously-missed sections read as one block "the way develop reads them" and treated the check reporting them as the false positive. In fact the block was counted by its first heading alone, so silencing the report would have hidden an undercount. Read an issue's own claim about acceptable current behavior as a hypothesis, and check the count the digest prints.
  • Resuming the scan after a section bound reads prose as a section. The first fix for the undercount let a prose line carrying low confidence and a (N) open a second suppressed block. A further block in a region opens only at the bound the previous block ends at.
  • The local strict review took three passes on Read a Section Heading Through One Reduction in pr_review.py #3179 again, each fix making the next finding. It converged once each fix was checked against every shape the test file carries, not only the one it targeted.

New learnings

  • None beyond the issues filed. The non-convergence is already local-strict-review's rationale for its edit budget.
